I can't create enjoyable games with the AC option enabled. I don't get it: Isn't AC intended to make it harder for the player with a high income to dominate the map? But if the player has high income, then the limit AC sets for him is higher, too. Accordingly I observe that the usual case is the demotion of the weaker players, instead of the stronger ones. It is usually the weaker players who are affected by AC, because they reach the limit quicker (as the limit is lower for them).

How do you make the AC option work? What's the trick to make it work for equalizing the players' strengths?

AC + custum senario were someone starts with a big stack could work. Also works well for no/light fog FFA, with no neutrals as it prevents someone from just building up, forcing them to use armies in order to gain them.

Ac is meant to prevent army stacking, and forcing you to actually compete...

This is how its intended function is formulated. But my concern is, it doesn't work the way it's supposed to. In most cases it gives the stronger player the upper hand, by not allowing the weaker player to make deployments. It hampers competitive playing, by letting the strong player enjoy her strength.

Okay this is an idea. Do you have the link to an exemplary game?

but it does work the way intended.
It's not meant to balance the stronger vs the weaker.. It's meant that one person can't just sit there with low income and make a huge army to walk over everyone with when they're ready to...
It's intended, that instead of sitting in a corner building up armies, you have to actually fight and compete to be the strongest..

You want something entirely different then what AC was intended for...
the only way AC hurts the top player, is that it can make it difficult to defend multiple borders.. but that's still only relevant if they are fairly close in income to the other players.. or other players are intentionally teaming up on him.. like the other person said about using light fog so people can see you are top player.
