some tournaments do not respect vacation, which is totally fine not to drag games for too long - what is not ok is that, if you are on vacation, you need to commit those games if you don't want to get booted, but when you do, your vacation is over and you have to commit every other game too within an hour, which could be IMPOSSIBLE while on vacation with a very limited internet access.

This extends to real time games and every other game in which you can be booted while being on vacation.

I don't see why this isn't implemented yet, since it's very easy to implement

yeah vacations have no reason to exist if you are in 1 or more games that don't respect them

When I´m in vacation I don´t want to play ^^
If you want to go in vacation don´t join the tournements which doesn´t respect this.
In a real-time game you don´t need vacation, you could boot your Opponent easily when rejoining and he isn´t online.

Not every vacation is planned, and sometimes tournaments run longer than expected.

Sometimes Vacation time isn't used for vacations. Sometimes it's useful for the Death of a Family member as you may have your time taken up.

Fuck, there are tournaments that have lasted years due to inactive players and other such things (Which i know fizzer is sorting but it's still a thing.)

Can't always be 100% sure when you'll need to use a Vacation. I'll be going to a funeral on the other side of the country at the end of the month which I may use Vacation time for but I couldn't exactly plan that death xD!


+1 for this idea as that's all I have left.. It is essential.

Which is why this option should be available.

That way we can focus on real life rather than being concerned with a boot time which will effect/affect (Which one?) not only our personal stats but those of our team mates as well as being an annoyance to the other team (Unless they're boot-win-happy assholes)

Sorry, the title doesn't talk about RT...

Here's a use-case for why this is good even for expected vacations:

- I quit the 2v2 ladder last week because I know I'm going on vacation for a month starting next week

- But my last 3 games are lasting forever even when we take multiple turns every day

- If they last past 7/25, I'll have to break vacation to come back and play in them

- But for things like Clan League I need my vacations- y'know, for when I'm actually on vacation

Right now the Vacation feature is going to be essentially useless to me because I don't want to let down my teammates in ladders/tournaments. With just the simple change Seph's proposing, I could suddenly go on vacation with little to no worry about this game- and without raising my bootrate to The Royal Falcons levels.

Also:

I don't think RT games respect vacations, but I might be wrong.

I don't understand the point Seggel is trying to make.

This is an essential change, I've given my +3, thanks for bringing it up.

If you have a small amount of time on vacation and fancy a RT game, this would also allow for that too.

^exactly, you are just forbidden to play anything while on vacation and that sucks (also, someone who cannot even play one simple real time game when he wants while on vacation is much more likely to quit playing).

when i'm on vacation i want to feel like im on vacation, so i don't want to have to commit 10 games within 1 hour every 3 days or wasting 4 or 5 warlight-vacation for a 10~12 days real life vacation.

For how vacation works at the moment, I have no reason to start one UNLESS i'm fine with getting booted in 1 or 2 tournaments (which I'm not) or with wasting all or almost all my yearly vacations (which I'm not either).

Also, I underline how easy it is to implement this feature in the code, it shouldn't be anything more than a condition and a function call

When i am on vacation i do want to have vacation indeed. And if it were only 1vs1 games i would just surrender them before i go on vacation. But in teamgames i feel bad for my teammates cause i hate it too when my teammates get booted.

Isn't account sharing illegal? If so then there's even more reason for this change... It would prevent one of the big reasons for account sharing. (I could be wrong here)

Just need a few hundred more votes, though. This needs to be much more visible to Fizzer/Mercer, especially since they look like they want to expand the game and will likely be dealing with even more casual gamers than we have now (who would probably use the vacation system more than we do now).

as a long time casual player, I just tend to avoid games where vacations aren't honored, or that have players that are boot-happy..
