"There appears to be an issue with this svg file. There are duplicate territory IDs. Please check your territory IDs and ensure that they're all unique. For example, if you have two territories named Territory_4 you'll receive this error."

I thought that if I entered a duplicate territory ID then inkscape would tell me. Either way, is there an easy way for me to fix this rather than renaming all of my territories? is there some technical issue that could be causing this error instead of numbers being reused?

thanks

I did not try that because I had very few territories, but try this:

inkscape does not allow duplicate IDs. Not sure how you could end up with those (it did not rename one right?).

Looks like you can use this to see a list of them:

http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ObjectManager

at least then you can see if there are duplicate ID's or there is some other error.

I've had the same problem, in my case, I somehow added a duplicate ID by using copy and paste or pasting from another Inkscape file. I never found out how I did it, but, it turned out not to be a "Territory_xxx" but instead a "BonusLink_xxx".

I was able to quickly find the error by (1) saving my draft as is. Then (2) I deleted the entire left side of the map, renamed it and tried to upload (Make sure you don't save over your original). It worked, I then knew that the error was on the other half of the map. Then (3) I cut that part in half, etc, until I narrowed it down and found a BonusLink that was hidden underneath a territory, once I removed it, I went back to the original map and removed it there. Everything worked.

......EDIT.......

One way that something like this might happen:

Say you have 3 territories. Start with Territory_1 and Territory_2. If you combine these two territories, the individual territory IDs no longer apply. Now only the combination ID applies. So you could add another Territory_1, which would not effect the combined territory names. Then, if you un-combine Territory_1 & Territory_2, you will have 2 Territory_1s.

So, I basically used numbers method, and it turns out i had a territory_9003 as well as a Territory_9003 which Inkscape didnt notice but warlight did.

Inkscape also notices, when you want to save the same ID name for two polygons. In that case it doesnt overwrite the name, for the second polygon.
Btw, you can use the warlight upload for inkscape to automatically name your territory IDs.
