My answer:
*assuming that doing stuff doesn't fundamentally alter history, for example walking into a universe that is a day old, even with the suitable protection so I don't instantly die in five hundred different ways, would alter today's universe massively, so assuming that you can't go and kill your grandfather or anything, but that slightly altering history doesn't matter*
I would (after a bunch of tests like going one second forward and backward, and assuming this thing moves in space as well) go and see myself as a really little kid. I didn't have that good a childhood, so I would want to help myself as a little kid, prevent him from those embarassing moments that still haunt me.
Number two would be to get myself some money, yo! Maybe do it in a environmental sciences, become the next Elon Musk or something. Then donate it all to poor African kids and repeat a few times.
Number three would be preventing the Mazda Furai concept getting burned to bits. I would have loved to see that in Le Mans.
Number four would be killing Hitler at exactly the same time, with exactly the same weapon, in exactly the same way. Because my nonno was an immigrant, if I killed him in WW1 or something, he and all the other idiots of the 30's wouldn't have happened, meaning that my dad and I wouldn't exist... PARADOX!!! :)
Next I would give everyone in the world complete solar panels, a Tesla (or maybe a Nissan Leaf, a lot cheaper for me) and anything else that would be needed to make the world sustainable.
Number six would be going to the year 2525, and seeing what life was like. Maybe some reallife Halo-style action. Oh wait, I just changed it fundamentally from number five... oops.
Number seven would simply be to see the sights of time. Would like to meet all the famous world leaders and all that.

Elon Musk is one of the brightest minds of our generation, it's a pity not that many people have heard of him (yet) - seems like you share a lot of his ideas, which is good :)

I would personally use my time machine to make millions gambling (roulette is probably the best way) and just bankrupt casino after casino, they don't need the money anyway.

I would travel to a set point in time, taking with me a bulk load of what seems like insignificant items today, like ball point pens or simple spices. But to the inhabitants of the time I chose, these mere things would be sold to bring me gold/wealth. Ball point pens may be less realistic as that may affect the development of technologies. But spices or foods wouldn't be that unrealistic.

I would go back to the Second Punic War wearing a full-head helmet, a leather jacket and sweatpants, taking a sniper rifle as well. I'd then tell Rome i was a god and take control of their armies. I'd then proceed to f*ck with Hannibal as i countered all of his planned moves in every battle.

I would sell petrol. :)



Clifford D.Simak theorized the idea of going back in time to exploit the natural resources. And sell to the future.

There may be some paradoxes but it is a very strange idea.

First, I'd go to the Far Future and get me some Awesome Supersuit, maybe become Augmented, then I'd go gallumping around Time and Space like the Doctor, maybe even bring a Companion

Time travel is impossible, because if you go 1 billion years say back and move 1 atom an inch, you would likely not be in a position to time travel and thus creating a paradox similar to the grandfather paradox.

If it were possible I would go to the future and see if live reached the final barrier to becoming a type 3 civilization. See we humans are evil and exploit each other for our own good, which was useful back in the running across the African plains days of humanity, but not now.

Ben, read the qualification at the top. You can do slight modifications so it is actually possible to travel, but you can't go and nuke Berlin in 1939 for example.

If we altered the FUTURE, we'd still be altering history! Because in the further future, the FUTURE was history! It's interesting, people say that things have more tremendous effects the earlier they start (more cumulative they are) but in truth it doesn't matter if I killed the third man alive or some random guy today, the ripples and effects are still as prudent over time. In the end, Time Travel is just a really f*ck'd up thing.

On the earlier note, people say killing an early man would affect everything. It really wouldn't. Our population remained very stagnant until the Industrial Revolution.

It really would genghis. Let's say I give you an apple. That Apple gives you the energy to think of a way to harvest fusion energy. Humans go crazy and use tons of free energy, it's like a utopian society. Then someone goes back in time and kills me. You don't think of the fusion powerplant and thus lights go out everywhere.

Let's say you kill Hammurabi. I don't have the energy atm to continue this story lol, but the further you go back the more of an effect it has.
