I think I play warlight with lots of girls, I don't really pay attention and often would have no idea what another person may be like. I think this is fine, as it really doesn't matter at all.

Regarding gender pronouns: As the internet offers some degree of anonymity than might make a person's gender hard to determine, I often default to referring to another player as "him" without regard for their actual gender. I would assume many others do the same thing. This isn't to say that we assume no girls play warlight or use the internet (which they obviously do) but is more a product of the lack of gender neutral pronouns in the english language. So when people refer to you as a "he", hthrlu, they may actually be saying "person of indeterminate gender".

Personally, I think the internet and it's system of profiles and avatars will in the long term work towards abolishing a lot of gender stereotypes and preconceptions. As we get more used to the idea of not connecting a person to a sexual identity, the idea that your sexual identity is irrelevant will be come more prominent. I hope this becomes the case, and we can judge people not based on what bits they have between their legs but instead based on what really matters: their boot rate.

^^^^^ +1.

I don't suppose anyone has a suggestion for a gender neutral pronoun besides "it"?

Because many people won't use that for a dog or cat; and I must admit that I don't

have the energy or the patience to remember the gender identity, ( or names ) of many, many, many, people on the internet that I have only a passing connection to.

^ I default to a singular "them"/"they" since I think picking "he" over "she" treats male as default and using "she" might be taken as offensive/"too PC" by misogynists who use "woman" as an insult (and therefore get worked up when you misgender them as female) and by the vocal and threatened reactionary minority that lashes back at all efforts toward actually treating people with respect because apparently only conceited Tumblr users should care about that and SJWs should be given full control over all efforts to fix discrimination while actual sane people stay out for fear of being attacked and labeled SJWs.

"knyte should hurry up and take their goddamn turn."

"meta knyte, quickly take their Scandinavia bonus and come help me in Africa!"

"Great. Their teammates are gone- now we can work on eliminating them."

I like "them" because it's scalable too- can be used to refer to any # of people with indeterminate gender. Elegance and a lack of special cases is what really draws me to it.

I always use they/them/their as gender neutral. I know that some people (mostly trans) have tried to make up gender neutral pronouns like "ze" or "zir." It's a good idea but I just feel silly using them.

There's a good mnemonic for those "new" pronouns:

Instead of "he" or "she", say "zie". (Pronounced "zee".)

Instead of "him", "her", "himself", or "herself", say "hir" (or "hirself"). (Pronounced like "hear".)

The way to remember is that it sounds like "see" (with your eyes) and "hear" (with your ears).
