He is beatable, but there are rarely decent opponents that play a game with 16%luck 4 picks and full distribution on imerium romanum. ^^

- myhandisonfire
- Master of the Dead
- master of desaster

Unfortunately I never had the pleasure to play against many excellent players (like Timinator and Summer), so I cannot add them to my list yet - but I hope I will be able to soon

everytime i read, that someone need to be focused 100% for play good, i laugh every time.

consistency is the key to judge a player. I am not going to mention the name, but i know some of the player mentioned earlier here, are used to play a determinate scenario X times before be ready to pick or make their moves (someone while was playing 20 A was used to play like 6/7 different pick scenario for every 1v1...). Well IMO, if for play your best, you need to do this with spending several hours, you are not a top player.

most of the players nowadays has ups and downs in its gameplay..

Gnuffone - As someone mentioned earlier, I don't always play on the same level. Couple of factors could be mentioned here.

First of all I'm (and I guess alot of other top players) more focused on important tournaments, than casual games. Like CL, 20A, Ladder games.. I can count basically every opponent move even on 0% WR setting and analyze couple of scenarios to conclude what is best response.
From the other hand, I don't see the need to be fully dedicated, when playing some casual game or even trial game with someone who wants to join GG (that's my handicap for such ones ;)

Other reason is, that someone can be in top form or not. Like for example after having successful ladder run, I can guarantee you, that player will be 2x more dangerous, than after 1 month of break.

I'm not saying, that consistency is not important, because obviously even noob can have could luck and win against top player, but it's just one of the factors and shouldn't be ultimate indicator of skills.

all i know is, that doing well on the 1vs1 ladder doesn't measure skill as good as it did before. i'll have to find another way to determine someones skill Level very fast (for example MASTER recruiting). Before i could trust the 1vs1 rank. It showed someones skill pretty accurately (also taking Speed, amount of games in account)

do you create new game for test scenario? or you try to visualize those scenario in your mind?
and if yes how many times it usually took?
how many time it take for count turn by turn the hidden deploi of your opponent?

that's are the right question i believe. IF you need probably more than 3/5 minutes, then i am probably right about what i've said :P

i would like to say that i am NOT referring to any specific run, nor your last 1v1 run, but usually the ladder run are luck based (and i am not speaking of luckinside game only)

i do agree that in mid skill level isn't a good measure of skill anymore.

Gnuffone is right, with reference to RT games and measuring skill based on what you can do within a set, fixed period of time.

This is why I think a MD ladder in which each turn is timed (5 minutes per turn) would be a cool idea. You have three days to take your turn. But once you click "Start," you have only five minutes to view the last turn, view history, and make your moves. If you can't do that in 5 minutes, you are booted and lose.

Currently, MD games are multiday thinking for some players and RT thinking for others. If I take my turn or make picks in 5 minutes and you do it in 3 days after analyzing and reanalyzing the board, does this make you better? I assume this is what Gnuffone is referring to.
