European Immigrant Crisis: 9/16/2015 03:43:54

I don't think it's much of an exaggeration at this point to say that the immigration situation in Europe is getting out of control. Refugees keep flooding in by the tens of thousands and it already seems many southern European countries are being overwhelmed. While the richer countries in North/Western Europe are promising to take in large amounts of immigrants, some others are not as receptive. Macedonia has officially closed down it's borders and Hungary is building a giant fence with the intention of restricting immigration. Many countries who are firm lovers of open borders have started stepping up police presence to deal with the situation.

What's your take on the whole situation? Should Europe welcome the flood of refugees with open arms? Are nations like Hungary and Macedonia wrong with their new less immigrant friendly stance?

Well, does one want to do the right thing for the world and take in refugees, or does one want to do right by his country by only taking in so many before things get out of hand? Suddenly adding thousands of individuals within one boundary is going to cause problems, and as we can see in Hungary, one shouldn't bite off more than one can chew.

So yeah, I think Hungary (don't know about Macedonia) has reached its limit a while ago in terms of taking in refugees.

Europe caused the crisis in the Middle East. Did they not think it would haunt them back?

That's not really answering anything...

But it is Europe's fault. Specifically the Franks. If they hadn't won the Battle of Tours, then we'd all be Muslim and this sh*t wouldn't be happening at all.

America is laughing at Europe. Only Europe would think that a few thousand LEGAL immigrants is an international emergency.

Its more America's fault than Europe, but that doesn't excuse Europe at all. Macedonia is impoverished, recovering from war, isn't in the EU, and is directly in the way of the crisis, they have a valid case here.
Hungary's far-right gov. are using it as an excuse to build a wall that they've been talking about for years.
As for Germany and Austria re-introducing border checks, this is not unheard of in the EU, you can do it if there's a genuine crisis, as happened with Foot & Mouth a few years ago when we had to be searched and the cars were disinfected when we crossed from the UK to Ireland, a daily occurance for me.
It creates an area where the people can be assessed, given supplies and most will be allowed to pass through. I'm ok with all of that.
Genghis, they aren't legal migrants, that's the point. They are asylum seekers, they are in a legal middle ground between being illegal immigrants or legal refugees and will remain so until their request for asylum is assessed. A lengthy process at the best of times.

International law states that they should only flee to country boarding the country you are emigrating from in this case turkey ect ...

Additional if people keep fleeing the place is hardly going to get better thought with Russia sending men there it will certainly be an interesting next few months.

Also Islam the religion of peace
