If you want safe living condition in the US, then you get sh*tty weather as a tradeoff. Well, depends on which professor, which university, but in general, professors are pretty nicely above average paid. And the rest - depending on who funds it, the government keeps it or the university leader keeps it, either for himself, or for future research and development. Research universities always are needing more money, as I know.

Pinkerton is pretty ugly, Martian. But it's ugly in such a way that it's beautiful. It's this thing where it's supposed to be awkward, and it perfectly executes in a soul crushing way.

Penning down some lyrics is nothing but writing down thoughts or brainstorming, and then honing on one theme and boom. Write around that theme. It helps to jog up your creativity beforehand. Do that how you will.

You're really comparing Thanksgiving to the rise of the Nazis? I thought your history knowledge was better than that.

Thanksgiving was a celebration between the alliance of the Pilgrims and Native Americans. While that alliance was later betrayed it wasn't the original Pilgrims who did that. If anything, Thanksgiving honors the short (And failed), but still noble, attempt at peace between settlers and natives. There's nothing offensive about it.

The assumption that citizens in the first world have no real problems in life and aren't permitted to complain about anything is an extremely ignorant one. Being better off than someone else in the world does not equal a perfect life. "Aristocrat" would only be accurate in defining a very small upper-percentage of people in the U.S and Europe, and even those people are still humans who have problems.
