The idea has been jogging in my head for a while, and I've mentioned it a couple of times already. But seriously, we need a good map of the Milky Way galaxy. It would be such good Roleplay material and has a good chance of being strategic as well. Sadly, I don't have the time to fumble with Inkscape so I couldn't complete such a work.

But the problem is that there are not enough territories to draw, or you would have to divide each arm into a twenty sectors and give them numbers as names.

Well I said this could be good rp material , and giving the sectors(perhaps make them star clusters or systems?)good sci-fi names isn't that hard.
But true not a lot of territories.

I think that would work better if it was actually based of something. Does anyone know any sci-fi comic/book/film that takes place in the milky way?

I do know a video game, Mass Effect. Just not 3. lol Though that isn't exactly what we're looking for on this map.

I came up with a good idea! How about a diplomacy United States instead with additional speculated 51st states such as Puerto Virgo (Puerto Rico plus US Virgin Islands), Washington DC, and Greater Hawaii (Hawaii plus Guam, Northern Marina Islands, Palau, Marshall Islands and Micronesia) or perhaps something as wild and crazy as Philippines (Yes people actually want this a state) and Canada (One of America's Closest allies this would be a nice state to help people get from Washington to Alaska.) Or maybe we can start splitting states based on politics like North and South California (Or we can keep it as a vital separation between pacific and mainland which I prefer.) I look forward to Belgian Gentlemen doing this idea the most as he is my favorite diplomatic map maker and as long as this becomes realistic and doesn't go too broad like splitting too many states, but adding or splitting based on real facts is better.

" diplomacy " maps. Plus it WOULD be a little controversial, and furthermore this thread was supposed to be about planning out the basics for the map and allowing someone else to make it. I don't want this thread to become a squabbling jarble of different people talking to different people about different maps.

Who cares if it is controversial it is a game not real-stage politics get your facts straight. And next we only got about 6 diplomacy maps that is a small array to choose from obviously that isn't enough. And next this was named ideas for a new map nothing is wrong with a little subject change that happens in real life all the time should we stick to the same conversation with our friends for 1 hour just the same stuff is said that is stupid.

Idear* for a new map. There are quite a few diplomacy maps out there, you just need to look. Though I do agree about the political thing, I still feel some people would take it the wrong way. To finish this post, this is a forum thread. Not a real life conversation. Do real life conversations last for half of a week ?

Hmm when doing a United States map involving Hawaii and other Pacific Islands it is sure that the United States will be small or the pacific islands will be closer to the United States keeping the US big. I agree Belgian Gentlemen should do the map he is an excellent map maker and my favorite as of now as well :D
