I'm thinking about bringing the Nations Cup back but of course some things might change like the setup for the amount of games but i will go into detail about it later in this post.

History
Back in August 2013 the second edition of the Nations Cup was organized by Dunga (https://www.warlight.net/Profile?p=955485421) and Fridge (https://www.warlight.net/Profile?p=794598733)
Early 2014 the organisators became less active with managing the Cup and soon there wasn't any order left.

I hope this info is correct since i just got it from the Wiki and 1 specific forum thread i could find.



New Season
I'm thinking about changing the format slightly. It used to be 4 1v1, 2 2v2, 2 3v3 and 1 5v5 games and i was actually planning on decreasing the amount of 1v1's and 3v3's by 1 each.

Why this way you would ask. I was thinking about making a list of 1v1 and 2v2 templates where each team would pick 1 template from which they would like to play in that specific round (can differ each round). This would also mean that there is 1 1v1 template and the 3v3 and 5v5 templates left which will be templates that have to be played.

general concept:
3 1v1's (each team picks 1 template out of list from multiple preset templates and a 3rd template which is predetermined and will be played in each game)
2 2v2's (each team picks 1 template out of list from multiple preset templates)
1 3v3 (predetermined template)
1 5v5 (predetermined template)

This way there are 15 slots to be filled in total with at least 5 players


Rules:
- No alts allowed (only play with main account)
- Each team consists out of at least 5 players
- Each Player can play in 4 games at most during a round
- All players in a Team must be from the same country or cluster of countries (for example: Australia and New Zealand used to be 1 team; USA has so many players that they will be split into East, Central and West; Belgium has 2 main languages being French and Dutch which gives the French speakers the right to play for France/Wallonia and the Dutch speakers the right to play for Netherlands/Flanders)
- Between each round you can change the 1v1 and 2v2 template of your choice (as team)
- There will be a cap of 4 teams each country/cluster (might get increased depending on interest but this is to prevent countries/clusters from facing each other (internal battles) until the semi finals)



If something is still not clear just feel free to ask and this is just a concept so if you think there might be better ideas just post them, i'm free for any input and this is first just to gauge how the interest for a new season is

I'd play, and run a West USA team if needed.

My issue with last time is a couple nations are powerhouses though (like Poland, Germany) in terms of WL elite players, though that might change with retirements, etc.

Splitting USA means you should also maybe split more (I think Poland, UK are top 3 in activity of players on WL actually).

Huge work here

This would be great. Id be interested in playing for US Central if a team is put together.

Chris times have changed since then, on page 8 there is a link to a spreadsheet with the lineups from every team but i agree that Germany and Poland (1) were very scary back then (i actually played vs Poland 1 in 1st round)

If you really want i can make USA just 1 region or just do East and West without a Central just to have a more even split on average

It was also awkward when it came time to decide where states went. Texas could be considered South or Central.

I don't really have the time to lead a team but I'd be willing to play.

I'd play too... do i have to play for germany? :/

2nd Nations Cup died out :(

5vs5 was disaster as i remmeber: vacations, booted players, retiring players, kids. Smaller teams with must have reserve player would be nicer, teams with captains and vice captains, strict rules(deadlines to start games or team ban) also would be nice

I think it is a great idea - And I am totally in. Can be captain if needed. I'm from Denmark btw - just need there right now :P. If not a Danish team I'm sure we can make a scandinavian one :)

Actually the size of a nation is not necessarily an advantage. I mean NORWAY!!! won the 1st nations cup, and were in good shape to do so in the 2nd (arguably favorites, due to the 1st victory)

Point is, no need to split the US , however you might still want more US teams to fill up the bracket, so allow each nation to participate with multiple teams.

I already put in my post a limit from 4 each country which will be easy to get for countries like France, Germany, Spain and Brazil just like USA if you keep all of them together.

Yea i was planning on each team having 1 captain which would be the point of contact for me.
Also i was thinking about allowing "new" players to join teams after each round. Players can only play 1 team at most so you can't play 1st round for 3rd team and then 2nd round for the 2nd team. This way the team captain can get to know who can play how many games and change his lineups according to the knowledge.

How about a possible Austria/Switzerland team, that should be a possibility. Both countries speak German as main language so this shouldn't be any sort of problem in communication.
