Hello,

Yesterday motivated me to restart the thread. In this position it is white to move:

After the tournament 2 of my chess buddies showed me this position in which white resigned due to imminent mate or queen loss. Should white have resigned?

im not that great at chess, but it looks to me like whites only two moves are to move the king (or bishop, to accomplish same goal) or put black in check. either way white will lose its queen.

Exactly kergemarha! At first it was tricky for me to find that move order, but when you analyse the only chance Qf4+ it proves to be the only way to keep the black king in a mating net. You can post next problem or I'll post one if you don't want to.

I'm afraid, I can't post a problem. I haven't played chess for ages and I'm not really good at making up boards. :)

2. Ne2 Nxe4
3. fxe4 Bxg5

(White can't recapture on g5, and Black is now a pawn up. + Black has pressure on c2 and h4.)
