I agree in the tournament thing. (People using better settings), but not on ladders. Members should have access to those only. Or let high levels play for only a set period maybe

I think its good, competition in ladder will increase. More good players are nicely welcome there. I also think that if someone played couple thousands of games should be allowed to unlock ladder,local deployments and other stuff, but also I admit it shouldn't be so easy. It must be hard to get.

Any map being used for obvious farming (aka all the ones with low amounts of territories and 1 territory bonuses) need to be set to unlock at a higher level than what there is actually to unlock so they can stop bieng done.

(pointless with all the grandfathered accounts having access to them, but it may be worth something)

To use someone's phone example, this is more like buying a new phone and then anyone else who sends a ton of texts out also gets that phone free.


Like I said, why not give people ladder abilities for a short period of time (a month maybe)? Or just give them access to the current seasonal ladder (only that season). Then you get their feet wet and hopefully encourage them to buy a membership. Or maybe when you get to a certain level the membership is only the $20 then.

I just don't understand this business model. You completely undercut loyalty by giving away everything for 'free' that others paid for.

And that logic can also be applied in this fashion:

Your boss promises you opportunities at work if you certify yourself (you pay the fee for the certification...in this case buying a membership). Then months later gives all the same opportunities to anyone else who has been there a while without expecting the same commitment from them that you put in (which he required at that time).

thanks to this thread, they all do now. If he takes them back it would be like going to a party, giving the host a present, than taking it back. You could do it, but its cheap behaviour.

Well, my thoughts, for what they are worth:

If someone invests so much time in the game that they can achieve a high level, they must have look at a lot of ads, which in turn pays Fizzer.

If someone turns on ad-block, it takes them 10x as long to get to the place to play in ladder.

Fizzer is monetizing the site the best he can after supporting us at a loss for a long time.

Finally, Fizzer already indirectly answered this in a previous post on a similar topic. He basically said, when you buy in early, you pay a premium, and later on when it reaches critical mass, it gets cheaper for everyone else.

So, if you paid a membership, thank yourself for supporting the site. But don't be too upset that there are other people that get what you got.

I personally would be less annoyed if members had the features of setting up an alliance channel or guild whatever

Most high ranked players (which I don't include myself to be) are members and have argued for the implementation of getting clans/alliance systems accepted.

I wouldn't mind IF Fixxer (I Iike this name coined by Foxy) makes new member-only features:

1. leagues
2. real-time ladder
3. new team ladder on a new map (2v2, 3v3, random teammate)
4. new settings that can't use the leveling system and require membership (-1/0/+1 random bonus changes, annonymous FFAs, etc.)

Take with one hand, give with another. That is fine. I can only assume he wouldn't be so foolish as to not give members more than useless trophies or stickers as the membership has reached a low point in value.

oh come on guys, why are you guys so disappointed some people have member features? You guys still get your features, why dont you want people who work hard to gain levels to have a better WL experience too?

This is like, buying food from the supermarket, than complaining about poor people getting free food from the Church.

He doesn't have to take away features from those who already unlocked it. He can simply stop unlocking that for people that get there in the future (or like I said limit the time it is unlocked).

Or like Qi said, just offer new features to members. People just want to feel like they are getting something extra when they pay to support the site.

I would be really mad if I was a person that bought a membership just before 2.0, or after. At least I have had over a year of using mine before 2.0

Another idea would be if members could gift unlocks like the ladder. Then they would still be getting something a little extra. I know I have friends on here I would love to give my ladder unlock to when I get there.

would be nice if members had more say on new features atleast.
