I play for more than a year and I am concerned to - why would anybody enjoy playing such crap as lotteries?

Point is you can level up easily. İf that is what you want, you can play lottery game. Especially if your level is lower than 40 level.
But after level 40 it is good for nothing. You will learn there are much easier ways for getting points.

It's not for enjoyment, it's a way of levelling up faster to reach new features especially custom scenarios.

However it kinda ruins the point of points to begin with

For a high level player lottery games is not even useful for level up. If high level player wins it will not get much points because all other players are newbies. It might be useful for newbies because when they beat high level players, they could not possible beat otherwise, they will get lots of points.

when levels were introduced lottery games became popular to get points quickly and unlock the levels stuff faster. mostly by people who play diplo/FFA games who wanted to be able to create games with stupid ammount of players which only gets unlocked in the higher levels afaicr.

If lotteries didn't exist, players would make them anyway, so may as well put them in as a feature anyway...

Why does it bother you? You can hide them, its obvious why Lotto games exist. People need to level up quickly cause they want to unlock a specific feature. Lotto games never existed in the past because Warlight never had levels. Lotto games are a direct result of the changes in Warlight.

When levels introduced to Warlight?

one or two years ago? would have to check the warlight dev announcement blog to get exact date.

It looks that I am not the only one who is bothered by that. Really didn't expected such amount of answers during hour and half :)

Sole purpose is to level Up quickly for people who want to get diplo game making rights(level 47)

There really is no other purpose.

Custom Scenarios are level 46 now, because of the 3v3 ladder.

A few people make games on the lottery maps but selecting the territory since there is a tie and the fastest pick wins which is slightly more fun, i.e Jesse Pinkman, DerpyLlama and Homo Warlightus. Also some people would play lotteries just for the fun of wondering if they will win.
