I didn't realize that Free Speech or Academic Freedom were "Nationalist" concepts. Did you even read his posts or the links provided? Nationalism has nothing to do with the issue at hand, you seem to be seeing it everywhere.

Here we get to the root of the problem with political correctness. What counts as offensive and what doesn't is entirely subjective. What is offensive to me might not be offensive to somebody else. Minorities are not so special that they can trump the rights of everyone else, NOBODY is.

This is why anyone who cares about free thinking needs to counter-protest against this absurd wave of political correctness. These SJWs don't just stop at censoring speech, they'll censor everything given enough time. Even history is now "offensive".

Everyone is always afraid of the government taking away our freedoms and rights, but why would they need to? Such a large chunk of citizens are happy to cede away their liberty (And the liberty of others) willingly.

Do these Social Justice Warriors have the right of free speech too? Of course. Do they have the ironic right to use free speech to protest it? Sadly, I must answer yes. However, these people wish to enforce their views on everyone else by censoring all opposing perspectives. That is something they have no right to do which is why they must be stopped.

I am a part of the 60% of millennials who think that freedom of speech should not be censored in public areas. Yes, Fizzer reserves the right to disallow me to show my true feelings for people like Kapy, but you know, the government can't.

Academic Freedom restrictions is why colleges (and even high schools) are becoming more and more obsolete. I learned in 5 days (through the help of knyte) what would take a high school class weeks to learn. It is incredibly simple, but the idiots in Washington with their common core get to tell me what to do. In reality, I (well, people over 18 but anyway) should be able to tell them what to do.

The Americans of 1770s were like "Those people in Britian shouldn't be able to tell us what to do".
The Americans of 2000s are like "Those people in Washington D.C shouldn't be able to tell us what to do".

There is clearly a problem here. The government likes to cherry pick/fake incidents to get their agenda through.

Hell yeah I'm a nationalist if I believe the power of the first amendment shouldn't be dissolved for the sake of college kids who cannot fathom nor handle views and opinions contrary to the ones inculcated by them. I love arguing with liberals and discussing opposing viewpoints. The key word is discussing. SJWs want to fundamentally transform the meaning of democracy by essentially removing at least 50% of people (really the white-American majority) from the conversation.

I'm not a particular fan of the US political culture, but I thought this was the thing you did best - real freedom of speak. It has problems and it can be used for sinister purposes, but the thought of it is almost mind-blowing. I'm sad to hear you are losing it.

That being said, there is a point in social responsibility in academic world. At least in human studies, it's possible to get almost any results you want, you just have to ask the right questions. And that isn't even exaggerating much. There is no thing as "free science", because the methods and implying of research questions are made by humans, who always have a bias. Not to mention research funding, hard of publication etc. So if results are at least somewhat directed by the researcher, then the question is: what should we research? And that is a moral question.

In natural sciences it's probably different, I don't have personal experience on it.
