I rarely see the top ladder players play any real time games. This leads me to think that the top players of this game don't play real time games at all. Is this the case? Or am I wrong.

My real time team games are near perfect, I haven't lost a 3v3 game yet (mainly because I only play with people I trust). And the only reason I lost that 4 v 4 game is because I played let a stranger be on our team.

But my ladder games suck. This makes me wonder... where did all the awesome players in the ladder go? Or maybe its just that I suck at multi day games, which I don't really like to begin with.

Most of the good players and the people at the top like RT if they can. I know a lot of the people play while at work (*raises hand*) and so a true RT game with a 5 minute boot may not be possible because something may come up and you will have to leave. Also, most people only have a certain time of the day that they play (like right before/after bed or at lunch). I think there are several games where if both people are on, they'll agree to do a few turns at once until some major thinking takes place.

We like to play a lot of practice games between us and we are all in a lot of tournament games as well. So throwing RT in there can be daunting because we like to spend our time thinking about big moves.

Here is the top 10 game count currently:
Doushi 23
Fizzer 32
Duke 20
Impaller 27
Shogun 8
bostonfred 20
waya 8
Troll 24
TeddyFSB 14
Ruthless 24

Personally, I'll hop into some open 1v1 games when i'm just trying to pass the time. But lately I don't have the time to play an hour to 2 hour live game.

PS -- I know of a 3v3 team that could give yours a run for your money if you guys want a challenge ;)

Lol, I pretty much gave up playing multi day games. I'm giving a last shot at it with the 2 v 2 ladders. I don't like waiting hours or days waiting for the other team to move. And I know I am playing multi day games in a wrong way. I take the same time to move in a RT game compared to a MD game, and not thinking my moves throughly.

My friends and I also like to talk about the game and chat about other stuff while playing at the same time. (not using that in game chat, it sucks for massive team chats). It makes playing this game more of a social experience than just an online chess game.

I grew up playing Advance Wars on the GBA with friends on the bus or other places when I was younger. It's also a fun turn-based strategy game for those of you who don't know what I am talking about. It's still one of my favorite strategy games to this day. Each player makes a move on the device and passes it to the next player. All of us learned to move fast so none of us hold up the game. And turned the time of "waiting for the device to come along" into time to joke and stuff like that. Which is pretty much what I do on warlight these days, just not face to face with anyone anymore.

Anyway, back to the topic, I'm pretty much done with MD games lol, and still wonder where everyone is. I'm just finishing up the few left on my list. Here is one that I finished just now. Looking at the history, I feel stupid just how bad I played. lol

I mean no real offense knife, but you and the rest of your group from AE only play team games with specific settings where you begin with 10 airlift cards and receive like 5 additional airlifts for each turn. Or something like that. I doubt your team would be half as effective on normal settings, or even against another team that understood the dogmatic strategy of such settings. Rather than just three random players that hop in, hardly knowing what they're doing ^_^

lol, talking about the win streak on the forums was a CURSE. I just lost my 47 win streak for 3 v 3. Got overconfident that I can reach that 50 win streak without trying anymore. good job to the other team

I don't play AE lol. But me and the rest of team have been experimenting with different settings, but we find lift cards the most fun to play with. It tests how well a team can talk to each other imo, which is what we are good at. All of us are not that good individually (i'm actually a terrible 1 v 1 player), and so we try to make that up some other way.

And I don't know if this is an excuse or not. I only started playing this time around last month, so I still have a long road ahead of me to be as good as you guys are.
