Isn't the Sockets thing part of Fizzer's process to improve the chat system. I recall him saying that it would at some point allow us to know who is online. Considering he released it as a "test" it is perhaps even what is the major point of next update? At least I am hopeful for X-mas.

at some point is forever, it takes a while for things to get done. That last seen 15 minutes ago thing has been around since the start of warlight. 15 minutes is a lot of time.
