Here's a possible feature: allow spectators to see territories where action is taking place, even in fogged games.

Specifically, show a player's territory to spectators if all other players are adjacent to it. This is most useful for spectators watching real-time 1v1 games.

Occasionally I find myself wanting to watch ongoing action in the 1v1 real-time ladder. Warlight is already awesome, and I can see that a lot of effort already goes into improvements.

Fellow warlighters: what do you think of this feature? Useful? Useless? Meh?

+1; this would make real-time spectating actually pretty cool

could also show all information (including territory and army locations) that all players are capable of knowing- so even starts at conflicting picks would be cool if all other players could deduce who received the pick (ofc, this would stop showing up after one turn)

There's a reason you can't. Simply put, what's stopping me from spectating my friends game and telling them where the enemy, or even spectating my own game on another device :/ I wish we could spectate like that but there's too many people who would abuse it.

Was aboout to say that. It would most likely be abused.

Koala: please read my post carefully: only information known to all players will be displayed.

propulsion: great idea: conflicting picks could be shown with light fog (player color is shown, but army count is not).

Well, if you have a function to disable chat, and have a filter on mail and disable PMs, it would probably work, as now people would have to talk with each other to relay info.

Nice idea btw

@player12345: light fog won't actually solve the problem since they could (theoretically) abandon said territories; it would make sense to just show territories + initial armies on Turn 1 and then return to fog

@knyte: you're ryghte, lyghte fog won't work. Instead, a "surveillance card" effect on the conflict pick myghteXD

@japan77: Thanks. However, I don't think it's necessary to disable any communication. The proposal is NOT a "full spectator mode", it's simply to make public the common info all players have about each other on the current turn.

even if all players know playerA owns a certain territory, not all of them know if everyone knows about it.

@GiantFrog: you sir, just found a very interesting corner case, and I salute you! So the proposed scheme does reveal information for #players > 2.

Fortunately, the problem does not exist for 1v1 games!

@Asmodeus: Before I played real-time ladder, I would have agreed with you. Maybe the feature is only interesting for other real-time 1v1 ladder players, but for that group it would be useful and interesting. When you are waiting on your next ladder game, sometimes you want to look at current games to get an idea of when they finish or to get an idea who you might be facing next.
