Whether or not your a republican or democrat, which candidate in the opposite would you want for president if you had no choice and why?

Even though I'm a committed libertarian I would go with Bernie Sanders. Even though I dispose both Socialism and Capitalism by themselves, they both have good ideas that if put together good form a good ideology or Political party. For instance, I believe Education and healthcare should probably one day be made free as I consider it a basic human right, especially now that we actually have the technology and resources for everyone to have good healthcare. The problem is Socialism doesn't Have a good plan for that idea, it's just tax everyone which at the moment is the only way to pay for it. I'm staunchly against Obama care for a billion reasons and I think it's worse then what we had before. Anyway, the reason I would pick him if I had too was

1 I agree with on the environment but for different reasons

2 I like his personality, he's honest

3 if elected, he definitely wouldn't work well with republicans and cause a deadlock that would destroy the democratic parties reputation and that would give rise to a new republican era bigger then the late 1800s. The reason I would want this is that libertarianism is usually aligned with republicans so if the republican part expands, so will libertarianism

4 his business regulations would piss off Small business owners and add to the rise of Republicans ( which like I said before would definitely help libertarianism )

5 ultimately if elected he would lead the democratic party into a new era of extremism and and probably end the old Clinton way of being Moderate on issues that need the middle class vote. In short, moderate democrats would basically go extinct with the new generation of democrats led by him, which would give the republicans the upper as it would make them the more moderate party. This is like how under the Clintons, Conservative democrats became obsolete and I'm expecting the same thing to happen with moderates under a Sanders administration

6 I like how he doesn't give in to mainstream democratic on gun control, he doesn't pull the party line and stands up for the citizens of his district who don't want increased gun control. I admire him for that greatly because he is representing his people, not his party

I would vote Bernie too but only because of 2 reasons (mine are less beneficial to the Republican party but you made some good points on why Bernie would drive people to the Republican Party):

1) I am a strong supporter of environmental protection at the state and local level. I don't agree with EPA regulations, but I support the preservation of land, federal funding for conservation projects, research grants for ecology, and subsidies for green technology.

2) Bernie actually has a strong stance on non-interventionism abroad and on mass surveillance. I think he would do well in foreign policy by redirecting finances from overseas military expansion to domestic projects such as infrastructure. He would also limit the power of NSA surveillance.

Yes environmentalism is where I agree with most. Actually the only reason I really support the movement is because I grew up on a farm and I learned how gorgeous wildlife and country can be. Also, we need to find an alternative fuel supply quickly

Okay, so apparently I really am a Centrist (I took the poll again) and I agree with the Republican candidates the most, so I'm gonna say Bernie Sanders.

The website says I agree with Hillary Clinton more, but I just can't see her doing anything to my liking...

Rubio. Seems like the most pragmatic candidate. Really any establishment Republican.

If I had to vote for a democrat, it would be either Bernie or Hilary. They both have strong points.

Bernie: He's honest about his positions (a rarity in politics) and the more people get to know his beliefs, the more revolted they will become. He wouldn't have a chance of getting anything he wanted done because there are too many checks and balances in place for a radical like him to be able to change much.

Hilary: She's no where near as liberal as she likes people to believe. She gives lip-service to liberal positions while using her post to make herself wealthy. Because of this, she will take bribes from every side of the political spectrum and accomplish nothing meaningful for anyone. She will also be a strong economy and a strong foreign policy president in my opinion.

Corbyn.

Out of the two major British parties (SNP and Labour), my opposed one would be Labour, so obviously, Corbyn.

I know that this thread is about American politics, but fuck that.

Now I know why the Scots want to secede. Must be tough living in a country governed by a third party.

Omg I'm dying. I didn't even notice when I first read what ox wrote. Wow...that's some level of hate for Cameron. But yeah I can understand why. Every time I watch PMQs on CSPAN I feel like bitch-slapping Cameroon and his high class narcissistic cabinet. That being said I could never see myself liking Corbyn or Angus Robertson...both seem like smug assholes (no offense).

Lukashenko.

Isn't he already the President???
