After the release of the Hex World map, I have looked for something that could prove to finally be the biggest map on Warlight.

And I have found a map to make for it:

The map of the world from Hearts of Iron 3. Here it is:

I believe the map is divided into (combining land and sea) over 10,000 provinces. Completing it would be a monstrous task, but it would sit as the biggest map on Warlight for a long time.

There is no max on the territory amount. Only on file size. If you did only straight lines, with minimal nodes (6 or less in a territory), only squares for bonus links, and no graphics (outside a straight line connector) not sure if you could get 10,000 on a map. The water boundary would add additional file size. You'd have to severely generalize shore lines for that to have any chance of keeping the file size small enough.

The Hex earth has those halos that add additional size, skipping them would give you more room to play with. Not sure that would allow you to almost triple the territory amount though. Did you ask him how big his was file wise?

And no, I'd never play a map that large (I don't play ones with more than 300). But I don't think there is any limit (so long as it does not exceed the file size limit).

Can 10,000 objects fit in the file size limit? Yes
How many 2 digit army territories can fit on the given maximum dimensions of the map? At least 6,000.
Probably closer to 9,000-10,000, but you probably wouldn't have space for bonuses.
3200 is written in the rules as the maximum.
There is a niche interest for such maps, but it isn't for everyone.
If you want to design it and the staff would approve it, go for it.

I think it's more for the challenge of pushing the boundaries rather than for playing, keep that in mind...

Could be both. Then again, we could also group two to three of the small provinces into larger ones. Still would be a couple thousand.

That looks like the HOI3 map.

EDIT: I'm an idiot.

I would like to see a big world map or europe map with seas like the map Saligia(warlight.net/Map/9108) has, to make it more realistic and better for multi-attack.

Perhaps a good thing would be to take regions of the HOI3 map. An europe only map would be already very interesting (parts of africa and middle east could be add). Same thing for Africa, Asia and the americas. We already have some similar maps, but a map based in HOI3 would be fucking awesome!

I love this game by the way haha.
