Apples or Oranges?

Personally, I prefer oranges.

Rephrase the question to "Non competitive vs competitive clans" and you'll get a fairly simple answer.

Due to their exclusive nature, competitive clans have a higher likelihood of attracting quality people. The inverse is also true; non-competitive clans have a significantly higher chance of attracting less-quality people (looking at MSF for example). This isn't to say that all players in competitive clans are great people, or that being in a non-competitive clan makes you a worse person. It simply increases the odds because of the kind of personality such a clan tends to attract.

I disagree that it boils down to competitive vs. non-competitive.

I think a better differentiation is selective vs. non-selective. And yes, there's a difference. A selective clan doesn't necessarily recruit based primarily on the skill or aptitude of applicants, but so long as it is still picky on some criteria (ie. personality) and doesn't just blindly invite most everyone that applies then it will likely be more enjoyable to be a part of. Being part of a clan that accepts everyone IMO is little different than being a warlight player without a clan.

well I think we're simplifying a complex situation here. Are talking about actual oranges, or are we allowing like clementine's. If we're talking about the full on oranges, those things are hard to peel, and I'm not about using cutlery to eat a piece of fruit.
