Good god, the 'ideology' of praying isn't to kill one's own children, it is to reflect and to seek help from a deistical figure. People don't pray 'God, please kill my child.'

Granted, there have been cases where children have died because of denied medication, but this has nothing to do with praying. When people pray, they ( I hope) pray with good intentions. It is Religion, the belief that divine intervention will save you rather than medication thats leads to these neglected deaths. Praying merely gives someone a platform for someone to express his religious feelings, it is entirely harmless.

Oh please, i never argued that they didn't pray with good intentions or that they wanted to kill their children. In fact this is one of many example for wich good people, with good intentions, do bad things because of faith. In case it is still unclear, i'm arguying against faith and faith related ideologies, not against religious people, who are the primary victim of it

effectively, as in "in effect", not in intention. Maybe that's my fault, not being completely explicit for obvious things,not covering my ass against any potential strawman that could be directed at me.
edit: there is also a possibility that i'm not conveying my ideas as clearly as possible because i'm not a native english speaker, but the word "effectively" was there for a reason. I believe that this word did make the meaning of what i said clearer, and if you dissmiss this word, then of course what i say becomes more ambiguous. Plus you would have to either think that i'm incredibly stupid, or yourself be intellectually dishonest i think, to actually think that i meant parents praying litteraly wants their children to die.
