Games between top 2v2 teams are often decided by boot. http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4651086 http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4784033 http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4809558 http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4628252 http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4538414 This undermines the integrity of the ladder.

In the 1v1 ladder you plan a turn in real time, you need to get to a computer, sit down and think about a turn once, 3 days is plenty of time to do that. In a 2v2 game you need to plan your turn with another person, over a few conversations. These do not happen real time, and 3 days is not enough.

The people on this ladder are usually in no hurry to finish games, see how few 2v2 ladder teams have 5 games on the go at once? These people have jobs and girlfriends. 1v1 ladder games often happen real time, and people who take 2+ days per turn get a bad reputation. In the 2v2 ladder every single turn of every game takes over a day.

No, Im not going to make a uservoice. There are about a dozen teams on the 2v2 ladder, clearly noone much gives a shit about it, a suggestion is never going to get any votes. It would take fizzer a few minutes to change the strategic 2v2 settings, so this is directed at him.

I have been on full time work and education, all the time me and my former 2 vs 2 teammate never had this problem. I only ever checked my Warlight once a day. But then again you could argue that different time zones play into advantage and disadvantage here.

People who disagree with my position are not welcome to post in this thread =D.

Skunk, I said "top 2v2 teams". You dont talk to your teammate and plan together like a good team. You do whatever you want as does your team mate and you end up 8th.

It's a larger leap to change the settings than to change your play time. Also you said yourself there wouldn't be much interest in the change, so don't bother trying to make Fizzer change it.

After watching skunk's video of him playing warlight, I now read all his posts with his accent in mind. It makes his posts very enjoyable.

Do you have any links, skunk?

By the way, I agree with piggy. It usually takes 3 days to convince him to follow instructions. With an extra day he might even follow instructions with the proper move order.

Have to agree with Skunk, Gnuff and Arun on this one.

If you're on a team with someone, you should know them well enough to anticipate their strategy (not every move, just their general strategy). Team chat works amazingly well for these situations and checking WL once or twice a day helps, too.

It's a shame there aren't more teams for the 2v2 ladder, but I'm part of the problem, since the only players whose game play I'm comfortable enough with are either already in a team or don't have a membership :P

In this thread there are lots of people who have not done as well as me on the 2v2 ladder trying to tell me how to succeed on the 2v2 ladder. The only person who has put in a decent showing (he is currently #1 for the 11th time) is gui and he is the only person who agrees with me. Thanks for bumping this thread to the top of the forum so fizzer sees it, but if you disagree with me youre wrong. Stop posting now.

Talking to a teammate is totally essential and 3 days is not long enough for many ladder teams to do it well.

I agree that talking is very important, especially in tough games when you are playing other top teams. However nich and I don't really have a large problem with this cos he who commits first says in chat what he thinks the other should do, the second to commit checks the other's orders to make sure they aren't too bad, and if there is a problem just waits for the other to change. I can understand that if you guys aren't very active and only check once a day then you could easily go over the 3 day limit, however most teams don't have this problem.

Also, auto boot is longer right? With most top teams you then have longer :)

oh arun...

on ladders direct and auto are always the same because if not boot-happy players get advantage over more conservative players

Most good teams arent particularly active. This is why there are so many boots. And I would bet even more cases of people not making the best moves because they hurry to avoid the boot timer. Ive seen game chat and comments from people confirming that happens. And for what good reason? Noone on that ladder is in a rush to finish games.

I think if you increase the boot time for the 2v2 ladder, you'll make an already slow ladder even slower.

Whether or not you care about this, I actually take Piggy's side in that 3-day boot is too short in a 2v2 MD ladder. Tournaments I feel are more relaxed and are usually with people you don't play with often, so you just kinda write your thoughts once or twice and go with it. In ladder I require full discussion with my partner on almost every major turn. (Of which.. almost every turn is major in the 2v2 ME template) If my partner wasn't someone from my same timezone, I would struggle to be able to do this.
