Totally the truth Ox, the sad thing about Scotland is that they are screwed since many English also voted, we have the same problem in the Basque Country, Parisian colonists are infesting our motherland!

Latin is like Mathematics.

No one [or few] like to learn mathematics. It is a second language. It is fair for everyone.

Maths has significantly more application than Latin (even in the common world, but farther than that - engineering and most sciences). And I like it.

If it is the case for mathematics, it should be the same for Latin.

Where do you get this premise? Not that I disagree, but why would that be for Latin if it is for maths?

The World should speak Latin. I will not be ashamed of my language skills because all will be equally bad. :)

Why? Maybe you can say the world should speak Lojban or Sanskrit, but why?

LATIN is not a dead tongue. The whole Vatican speaks LATIN.

Latin is a dead tongue. And this is a misconception - the Vatican does not speak Latin primarily, in talking to each other, it is mostly Italian, and in outside messages, it is in several tongues including Latin, but primarily English. And even if they did - that's what, about 800 folk? Smaller than a town?

Latin might be (almost) dead, but it influenced the roman languages more than you might believe.

I talked about this in the post before that - why would you learn a hard tongue to learn an easier tongue?

Latin is actually pretty easy to learn. Most of the grammar is pretty easy (There are always exceptions of course), and the vocabulary is quite easy, if you already know a roman language.

You did not get it. It did not influenced the Romance Languages, Latin is the ancestor of the Romance Languages, their origin traces their roots from Latin, it is not a question of influence. So your statement is irrelevant.

No, I strongly doubt that the grammar is easy, especially for an English speaker.

Several kinds of declensions and inflections (which English has practically none) and verb conjugations (which English has a much simplistic kind)? The hardest thing Spanish brings is probably the conjugation, ditto most the other Romantic tongues (except Romanian).

Anyhow, Esperanto was a tongue made to be easy to learn and borrows words from Romantic, Baltslavic, and Germanic tongues. And the few studies that have been done show that students learning Esperanto 1 year, and Spanish the next 2 are farther along than those who took Spanish all 3 years.
