A thread to discuss dmca with the introduction of digital piracy.

One thing : is there moral justification for piracy? It's stealing no matter how you cut it, stealing from artists/creators who have such things as job. On the other hand, companies with abusive practices shouldn't be profitable.

Do yo think fair use should be more elastic or strict?

Do you think internet should be a land of the free or restricted for reasonable things?

Should the Internet embrace subcultures or encourage multiculturalism aka globalization?

Should pirates be convicted like thieves, hackers or..?

Just thoughtful questions

The internet, like space or Antarctica should belong to nothing and no-one. (although the UK, Norway and Australia kinda own most of Antarctica for some reason)

I think there is a symbolic treaty to split the moon. Almost every country is free to use the moon except some countries in Africa.

Oops. Moon Treaty failed; only some 16 states signed it.
