Actually I was pretty serious, two of my friends worked on a fruit farm, made about 10,000 Australian dollars in 3 months (after taxes). Of course she worked 10 hours a day, 5 days a week and lived a good 100km away from any place with a population over 10,000 and didn't do anything productive aside from work. One proceeded to blow that money in a months time, the other took about 3-4 months to do that :P

50 hour work week for 10k in cash in hand from 3 months isn't terrible. Plenty of other time to do shit.

When you get out of the major cities there isn't very much civilization.

If you can get the work, which is hard to get, I would recommend prawn trawling. You live on a boat for 4 months and don't see land in that time, but from what I hear it's good work that pays well.
