An income tax is the most degrading and totalitarian of all possible taxes. Its implementation wrongly suggests that the government owns the lives and labor of the citizens it is supposed to represent. Tellingly, “a heavy progressive or graduated income tax” is Plank #2 of the Communist Manifesto, which was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and first published in 1848.

My main gripe is, that there are rich folk who don't pay tax, and get away with it fine, but when poor people don't pay tax, the government go out of their way to fuck them over.

No taxes doesn't necessarily mean no government, it just means a government that runs on donations or gets its own money through government-owned business. Not all the money government gets are from taxes. (but this is not done)
