Is this about the possibility that the overuse of these might create a super bug that kills millions?

Surprisingly, I agree. I think we should strongly reduct use of antibiotics for the reason mentioned above.

The thing with the Super bug is that it will only be immune to certain Antibiotics since they do still have some Antibiotics that they regulate.

and banning them would only make them more expensive cus of cartels

The problem is, what happens when they get immune to the older antibiot? The Chinese superbug was found when they tried applying a kind of harmful antibiot, and it didn't work.

antibiotics themselves dont pose the threat its antibiotic resistance, if we stop using antibiotics at all then it will have the same effect as antibiotic resistance

the excess consumption of antibiotics is what is leading to antibiotic resistance because the bacteria mutates a lot

and with 80% of the livestock and 70% of the livestock being fed human antibiotics leads to the population to being on antiboitics without even realizing it

well then say you want to reduce the amount of antibiotics not that you want to take them away completely, taking them away completely gives the same end result as antibiotic resistant bacteria

There are several reasons why Bacteria become immune to antibiotics:

1) Overuse of them. Nowadays people take antibiotics for every little shit. If you have a cold, you take antibiotics... Even if it is caused by Viruses. Then people say its to prevent Bacteria from infecting the weakened body. Which is bullshit, because the antibiotics kill the harmless Stomach-Bacteria and they could create resistent genes. Next time a real disease comes up, the Bacteria could copy the more resistent Stomach Bacteria and actually become immune to the Antibiotics.

2) Usage of them on animals. Some Antibiotics are used to prevent diseases from breaking out or to even speed up the growth of the animals themselves. Same problem as above: The good Bacteria become immune to the AB and give their genes to the harmful Bacteria.

3) Sheer lazyness and money making of the Pharma-Industry. Since the 80s almost all Pharma concerns stopped researching for new AB, because there are already that many... Most new announced AB nowadays are simply a mix of several other AB. This is cheaper because researching costs ALOT (depending on the disease of course). Problem is that if a Bacterium becomes resistent, its immune to dozens of ABs. This is called Multi-resitent and is the real threat nowadays. Researching also takes a lot of time (Most ABs nowadays took up to 10 years), so if one would become resistent to several Universal ABs we have to deal with it for a long long time, and probably use other Abs instead, which would increase the probablity of mutation alot. Its an endless cycle.

Antibiotic-resistent Bacteria are a real threat and need to be dealt with right now.
