If you want to boycott North Carolina for the anti-LGBT laws, fine by me. No really, go ahead. But please also boycott: The Middle East, half of Europe, Russia, China, South East Asia, Australia, Africa, and most of Latin America. For consistency's sake.

Most what I know on this is from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d667Bb_iYA

The laws there seem pretty sensible to me. You go to the loo of your sex organ (which can be changed). Why isn't this a law everywhere (for public loos)?

It's based on the premise that Transexual folk will go and molest other folk in the restrooms. It doesn't really matter what you have down there anyways, toilets are toilets.

Actually do something about countries that execute gays on a regular basis? Nah. Not worth public outrage.

State passes law that says you must use bathrooms based on your actual sex and not whatever gender delusion you have? This is a moral travesty! We must boycott these horrible bigots at once for the cruel suffering they've placed upon people!

Selective outrage at its finest.

Folk have a right to change their bodies how they see fit, but priorities man. Saudi Arabian politicians have actually proposed mass murdering gay folk, and silence from most of the celebrities going against North Carolina.

What you guys fail to see is that it isn't a selective thing at all. It happened in your own country, that's the stuff. Those kind of laws being passed in third world countries isn't a new thing, but seeing that in the US is shocking to americans and anyone that believes in the concept of freedom of choice.

Boycott is one of the best expressions of protest against anything, it's peaceful and no one gets hurt because of it. As a defender of Ancap, Major, you should know that being against these kinds of boycotts is at the very heart of anarcho capitalism.

If my say doesn't affect you guys because you think all these transexuals are creeps and that doing such a thing it's against god, just look at this:

Now well done north carolina! after this law has been passed, all of these transexuals are now forced to go to women's bathroom everytime they want to use a public WC.

I'm not against boycotting this, I'm asking folk to get their fucking priorities straight and go after much harsher discrimination in other places. Folk here can wait for some change, folk in parts of the world where they are murdered ,ostracized into starvation and dehydration , and tortured cannot.

What's your alternative for those then? We should invade saudi arabia?

Seriously, I don't get you. Fix first your own home before saying that your home isn't that much of fucked up and start yelling at your neighbor that his home is crappy.

You also lose the moral highground you would have to even criticize Saudi Arabia by passing such laws. There is no point in not reacting to such outrageous things... Now you can even do both and react against other countries laws, which might come as a surprise to you, but most activists do.

I am saying this for all folk who are actively boycotting North Carolina, to start boycotting all the worse areas too. Don't buy from oil companies that use Arab oil, don't buy Arab products, etc. If you are ok with doing it for North Carolina when they did much less than Saudi Arabia, you should be fine doing it for Saudi Arabia.

Those arguments are almost the same as saying:

OK, North Carolina passed an anti-LGBT law. But it isn't that much of a bad thing, go see what's going on in Saudi Arabia before you criticize America will you? If you apply this to every field, the american gvt you despise so much is great, the democratic system also works very well, there's barely crime on the streets and police is not that bad as long as we don't have a state that is just like North Korea.

This kind of double standarts really pisses me off. You should always complain whenever something that isn't right to your eyes happens, or soon you will pretty soon be wondering how the US become a totalitarian state...

People sure as hell have the right to complain about their neighboorhood first, and about the rest after without being hipocrites.

No , I am not saying that. I am angry at celebrities who get angry at one state and refuse to even acknowledge much harsher discrimination laws before or during this. Stop putting words in my mouth. When one person is getting verbally abused in your backyard, and another is getting hanged a house over, I think the one getting hanged deserves a but more attention.

He is clearly saying it is hypocritical of companies to boycott NC for this, but then to turn around and do business in countries where it is a crime to be gay.

Team Guns, you're missing the point by a mile.

We're pointing out the obvious hypocrisy of people who act like a bathroom law is a moral tragedy but are almost always silent about the fact that other countries are doing things ten times worse every day. Everyone wants to boycott North Carolina over a law that doesn't really hurt anyone and doesn't change much anyways, meanwhile they happily buy up all that Saudi Arabian oil with the Saudis stone gays, transsexuals, etc, on a regular basis.

This kind of double standarts really pisses me off.

The double standard is on the side you're defending. How can you tell us it's not hypocritical of a person to boycott North Carolina over such a minor law while they say and do absolutely nothing about directly harmful laws in other nations?

American activism is full of slouches that take part in pointless shenanigans (Which don't help anything) in order to make them feel morally better. It's rare anymore to see them actually make a positive influence.

Prove it.

Biggest example off the top of my head would be Bruce Springsteen cancelling his North Carolina concert out of "Good conscience". Meanwhile he's planning a tour in several Middle Eastern countries with anti-LGBT laws.

Guess his conscience is blind when it comes to Muslim countries.

There's also the laughable matter of Bryan Adams boycotting Mississippi over their religious liberty law. Apparently, he thinks it's okay to deny service based on his moral values...hmmmm...where have we heard that from recently?

Is this supposed to strenghten transex's?

This law isn't anti-LGBT, it's called for-actualities. Folk who have dicks don't need to see more, folk who have vulvas don't need to see more. I'm not for letting horny folk try to see real sex organs, just on the excuse that they feel like they have the same.

And frankly, transgender folk are pretty sexist in my thought. They "feel like a man" or "feel like a woman"? A man can do most everything a woman can and in reverse, and a man can do things that traditionally women do, and in reverse. Defining manliness and womanliness as set things that only men can do and only women can do, that's clearly sexist to me.

People sure as hell have the right to complain about their neighboorhood first, and about the rest after without being hipocrites.

They have the right to, but should they? Smedley doesn't live in North Carolina, this affects him and I think most folk boycotting this not. And this is just one insignificant law, will any lives be ruined since they couldn't get to the loo they wanted to? No, but in Iran, you can expect to be killed for sodomy, in India, you'd be put in gaol. Both these countries have a much bigger population than North Carolina, and these laws are WAY more serious than not having choice of which loo you can go to. That's just extreme centrism if you care about a state that you don't live in, but it's bit of your country, but the law doesn't matter much anyway, but don't talk at all about sites that are killing folk over this.

99.99 times out of 100 it's a transgender bloke/blokette using the restroom like normal and leaving. It's a unnecessary law that strengthens government power over folk by telling them they can't do things with their property (their bodies) when it doesn't effect other folk.
