1.Are we allowed to take screenshots and
(a).Post it or some modified version of it on WL.
(b).Post it or some modified version of it outside WL.

2.Also are we allowed to
(a).view screenshots of a WL game (such as a single player one) without violating copyright? Thank you very much!

I'm concerned with copyright issues and have never done either 1(a) or 1(b) but I certainly have done 2(a) on WL.

I would imagine it's fine so long as you aren't somehow making money off these screenshots.

Posting screenshots of a game *in progress* is a pretty bad idea, however, unless your opponents agree to it as a possibility. (For instance, posting a screenshot of a tactical scenario and asking for advice on the forum could be seen as a form of cheating.)

Poireau I can't see how it's cheating, your opponent can do the same too... It's not cheating if both have the capacity of doing something, it's not an unfair advantage .

Really, TeamGuns? It is still cheating, if both parties can do it that doesn't mean its not cheating. Its still unethical no matter how you look at it.

You can take pictures, but not in-line them, assuming you're not a member.

ppface and I were playing a game, I checked the settings and told him it was NLC, then screenshotted the game and closed it immediately.

Then, we memorized what picks we would make, and made them as quick as possible. Our time was less than a minute total, while the other team took about 30 minutes, easy control of 1st and 2nd pick.

This is not cheating, and there is no way to tell if you can, I can screenshot and send to him on skype, nobody would ever know.

You're quite right about the letter of the law; however, in practice most things you might do with such a screenshot could fall under "fair use", or, at least, be effectively non-punishable. For instance, if someone were to take a screenshot and post it on this forum, I doubt any legal action would follow. Having said that, yes, it is technically against the agreement we have all digitally signed.

As for using a screenshot to make your picks faster, I think a lot of people would consider that cheating, and fairly so. But it's arguable - depends on your attitudes towards the game, really. For a similar example, is trying to distract your opponent with an emotional revelation in the middle of a chess game cheating? In most ways, no. But it's certainly not good sportsmanship.

I think you have two avenues for that:

1. You could ask for permission to use Warlight graphics in the public domain, to advertise the game to your friends. I can't see why that would be refused; but it might take a while.

2. You could go ahead, and do it anyway. There's a good chance that what you're doing is covered under "fair use". However, even if it's not, it's pretty unlikely that Fizzer or Warlight would pursue any kind of legal action against you unless you were actually doing something harmful (which posting screenshots of a game on Facebook almost certainly is not, especially since it produces free advertising for Warlight).

Well I'm mostly talking about the action of using WL screenshots in the forums and in game chats. Can this be allowed?

Like in strategy guides that strictly exist on the site.
