FFAs are the most difficult style of play to really control when it comes to fair play, and the reason for this is because it's incredibly easy to cheat in them. You can multi-account and people won't know, you can invite friends and ally with them until the end of the game, and you can even disable private messaging but communicate with your known allies through other means like Skype.

What are your thoughts on FFAs?

All games are easy to set, save ladder games (probably), in favor of one player. Even if you don't, making in-game alliances, are step to the same direction. In ideal world there should be no pre-game deals nor game-deals, but once you join one, there is no way you can control player's behaviour.

That is similar to MMO, where each player plays for own or plays with group, like clans here.

So, each FFA can have set outcome regardless of game creator wishes. What you have to avoid is to join games where the outcome of the game is set in rules (like lottery games here) or to play with some particular players who more than often play games together with invitations, or just ignore that and hope that you will be in game where all are equal.

Blacklist whoever does that and never play with them again, that's about all you can do.

I don't think it's cheating to communicate via other means. You could still communicate with any player throughout Warlight mail, so it's not like only some players would be able to communicate outside of the game. Just makes it a little easier for you have someone's phone number
