Hello, I'm new and invited a friend to play as well. He said he is logged in with his new account and when going to the game, both buttons are greyed out and can't be selected. Any ideas or tips?

The buttons are grayed out if you're not invited to the game.

When you invited your friend, it sent them an e-mail which walks them through signing up and joining your game.

You used the words "new account" which leads me to believe that your friend ignored the email, created a new account through the website with a different e-mail address? If so, you should remove their old one from your game and add the new one. To do this, click "Add/remove players", drag their old one to the left side, and click "Invite new friend" and type in your friend's new e-mail.
