Having trouble with World War 2320, the "boss"?: 5/25/2016 16:27:21

I've heard a lot of people are struggling with this level.

If that's you, there's a simple solution - give it a thought! Here it is:

* The "boss" isn't your enemy! He's your *friend*.

Think of it that way, and I think you'll have more success. ;)

(Of course, you'll have to turn on him at the end... but that's just the nature of the game.)

I don't think you can influence the AI to move into europe. Maybe you glt lucky there, but the 2 times i played it he stayed all the time in NA

At first I thought AIs 2 and 3 were the 'friends' and the boss was the 'enemy' xD

Sure, you don't have *perfect* control of his movements, but you can try to judge what he's doing and then stay out of his way. That's second best, and should still win you the scenario.

I won it on the first attempt in large part because the boss made a direct bee line for Japan and Asia. I found this level to be rather simple as a result.

This might indicate a significant problem with the construction of the level, if the vagaries of the AI's random decisions significantly affect the level's difficulty.

My two attempts saw me trying to expand in all directions, but as soon as I met the boss's forces around Tennessee, he changed directions from Mexico back to US. I was hoping to prevent him from getting some bonuses there but couldn't also hold off the other two AIs.

I figure I want the AIs to fight each other, I just have to figure out how to make that a reality while also not letting any of them get too overpowered. Doesn't help that I am still adjusting to leaving no armies behind

Richard,

The "boss" will always attack, every turn. This means that you need to stay out of his way, and then mop up the swath of destruction he leaves behind him for easy bonuses.

I've now played the scenario a handful of times. Sometimes the "boss" just heads to Asia on his own, and then the scenario is very easy.

However, it's certainly possible to win when that doesn't happen, as long as you apply the same logic:

The boss is your friend.

Don't fight him. Just follow in his footsteps.

put 1 army in all territs around the boss, then as last moves attack the boss territory to prevent the boss from owning anything besides where he stands..

I had to do it twice, first time he came straight at me, and I had difficulty keeping him contained while likewise fighting off the other two ai.. second time, he went up the NA west coast, and although he never left NA, the couple turns extra I had gave me enough income that I had very little resistance from the other two AI's, then just started putting bigger armies around him until I had a big enough stack behind him to make his assault my first turn move.

same way I handled the real bosses later on

I even had one of the boss clones show up right on an army that would of been big enough to have killed him.. -_-

It's a medium challenge once the Boss is helping you :)

Yes first time he came at me when I expanded south. Next time I didn't expand south very much and by time I met his troops he was on his way to Spain. Boss helped me very much. Thanks Boss!

Thanks for the info and insight... will have to play with it some more. Oddly enough, I'd rather play people than the AI... I can predict their movements better. The AI is too random/stupid sometimes. I'm also frankly a 1v1 player so the FFAs are always problematic for me.

Exactly right.

You can't use normal 1v1 tactics in a scenario like this.

I'm playing it through one more time, just out of curiosity, and, indeed, this time the "boss" refuses to leave North America.

I'm still winning, though - at most he takes one or two territories per turn, which I can often reclaim immediately. Meanwhile I'm taking out Europe and putting a dent into Asia. So it's definitely doable even under the "worst case" scenario.

That's very impressive! I think my run was 21 turns.

Another way to think about it:

* When the boss is fighting your enemies, he is your friend. Try to keep it at that!

* When the boss is fighting you, he's an enemy who is *crippled by a no-split requirement*.

That mindset should help, as well.

World War 2320 is one of the new single-player levels.

Go to "Single Player", then "Preview Levels".

Just for fun, here are screenshots from my most disastrous attempt (I couldn't get the boss to be friend, or even to leave North America). Still quite doable.

http://imgur.com/a/ul5zB

I believe the shots are turn 5, turn 10, turn 19, and turn 23.

As you can see, just about everything went wrong, including my failure to contain the boss towards the end.

Of course, at that point I had enough income that I finished him off pretty quickly thereafter.

Does anyone know how the boss's "spawn armies" ability works? Is it a secondary Reinforcement card that the other players don't have access to? Pretty intriguing.
