I am all for a constitutional monarchy with a good leader and capable elected council.

Who grants you that there will be a good leader and capable council?
Thats the problem with a monarchy.
NO ONE.

''You know why most monarchs were overthrown violently or slowly phased into uselessness?

They fail in the long run, and only benefit an elite minority. ''

citation needed. Also funny considering both the Russian and French revolutions were composed primarily of a small elite class of well educated people and not the peasantry.

''''Lots of republics also did get overthrown. So?''''

Indeed and they have had much shorter lifespans than kingdoms.

There is a citation needed. You need to show how republics have been better for the average person as opposed to a monarchy.

Then you go look up the republics that got overthrown

also search ''yahya jammeh'' you end up with those kind of ''people'' when your state is ruled by a republic.

Homosexuals are not welcome in the Gambia.

Homosexuality is anti-humanity.

I don't believe in killing people. I believe in locking you up for the rest of your life.

I will develop the areas that vote for me, but if you don't vote for me, don't expect anything.

WTF

"OMG guys Monarchy is the perfect system. Just hand over your freedom already"

We abandoned monarchy for a reason.

Not only do democratic governments take away freedoms (Jim Crow, NSA, Big Gulp, etc), democracies tend to force people to gravitate towards the norm, reducing freedom of expression and thought. Read Liberty or Equality for more.

You know why most monarchs were overthrown violently or slowly phased into uselessness?

They fail in the long run, and only benefit an elite minority.

Are you saying our republic doesn't do the same? The difference here is, the democratic people have been softened and can't do shit.

monarchies usually facilitate more civil liberties.

Yep. For more on this phenomenon, read Liberty or Equality. You won't, because it goes against your worldview, but whatever.

I am all for a constitutional monarchy with a good leader and capable elected council.

Not elected. Just nobles.

Example?

R u fucking retarded?

None of those are unique to republics. Also none of those are objectively beneficial to the average person.

Freedom of speech.
typically worse under democracies, especially when they become despotisms (see Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Mao - all men of the people).

Education and healthcare for everyone.
Not a good thing.

De jure equality between men/women and gays/straights.
Doesn't exist in all democracies and just as likely to exist in monarchies.

Just to give a few exmaples.
Nice spelling :D

Francisco Solano López, President of Paraguay between 1862 and 1870, for sheer destructiveness to the country he was elected to rule.

He was elected unanimously by Paraguay's Congress to serve as president for a ten-year term.

He had dreams of making his small country (population less than half a million) the arbiter of affairs in South America. Accordingly, in 1864 he intervened in a civil war in Uruguay by declaring war on the Empire of Brazil (population 9 million). The year after, he declared war on Argentina (population 1.5 million) as well for good measure.

López had thus deliberately started a war with countries with a combined population 24 times greater than his own country's population, purely out of personal ambition. The war, predictably, was a disaster; but he refused to surrender. After his fleet was sunk, his army defeated, his fortresses captured and his capital city sacked, he ordered his followers to retreat into the forests and wage a guerrilla war.

As events turned against him López retreated into paranoia and cruelty. He had hundreds of prominent citizens executed on suspicion of treason, including government ministers, army officers, judges and priests. He had his own 70-year old mother flogged, out of suspicion that her husband had not been his real father. He also had his brothers executed in the belief that they were conspiring against him.

The war did not end until López was killed in hand-to-hand combat accompanied by a handful of loyal men. The exact death toll is unknown, but the 1871 census gave a population of only 150,000, of whom only 28,000 were adult males.

In other words, the war López started killed two thirds of his country's entire population.

It killed about 80% of its adult males.

It left his country bankrupt and ruined.

It led to the loss of 54,000 square miles of territory, annexed by the victorious Argentina and Brazil, including some of Paraguay's most fertile lands and richest resources.

Paraguay was forced to pay a huge war indemnity to the victors, proportionately much higher than that Germany was forced to pay under the Treaty of Versailles. They did not finish paying it off until 1943, 73 years later.

And that's republic for you.

Yes I am. Because quality of care goes down and wait times go up when healthcare is free of charge. I suggest you read Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell.

Yes. I am. It makes them zombies dependent on the government for everything and gives them propagandized education, plus it destroys evolution and survival of the fittest, hurting the development of the human race.
