Hey all, thought I should share this. If someone has control over the Wiki pages they can add this video if they want. I hope it helps!

It is a really nice tutorial, and I'm pretty glad I watched it since I actually learned a few things, although (not trying to be mean here, I promise) there are some things you did that were somewhat inefficient:

1. When you're drawing paths with jagged lines, it's much more efficient to use the pen tool rather than the pencil. With the pen it pretty much takes one click per point rather than two as you were doing it.

2. Instead of messing around trying to guess how big your map is, you could have just selected all your shapes and used the "Resize page to Drawing or selection" tool that is right under the size boxes. It's just something I recently found that's really useful :)

3. I'm not really sure what CRL+SHIFT+6 does (I couldn't find it in the menu anywhere) so maybe I'm totally wrong on this, but wouldn't it be much quicker to just use CTRL+-? That's what I use, but I'm not completely sure on this one.

I didn't know that, I've never used the pen tool before.

I actually didn't know about that either!

It's really CTRL+^ , but I say "CTRL+SHIFT+6" because that's really what it is. (Well, now that I think of it, it may be different in other countries, I don't know.) I believe it's called the Exclusion tool.

Thats a really good tutorial.
I have already figured out most of the stuff already on my own, but there is one thing that bugs me about the tutorial:
Your video is too much based on imaginary maps. You could show some tricks for Real-world maps... like importing a PNG-File into the SVG and lowering its opacity so you can draw over it to get realistic shapes or something.

But anyway, still a good beginner tutorial.

should've specified :P

If you keep it PNG, it doesn't show up when converted to Warlight, just trace over it and when you're done see how it looks in WarLight, then delete the PNG background for extra clarity if you need it.

Thanks, Cata!

And ditto to what Zephyrum said about the png's, also, there are websites where you can download SVG's of real places already, especially on Wikipedia:

Very nice tutorial, but I,being shit with computers, could not properly install the automatic territory extention. When I try to install it directly into the inkscape file it gives me an error message, and when I install it somewhere else and then copy it into inkscape,it does not work.

When I try and open it directly,it says it stopped working.

and I am on windows 7 x64 too
