In the forums I keep reading people talking about using an abandon in svalbard or other places, but I only ever get reinforcement cards nothing else in the challenge, am I mistaken about which level they're talking about? If so can someone give me some tips for winning it? Not a walkthrough just some advice or simple steps i might be missing. The one where there's "two great factions" you have to fight.

The "Insane" level has the abandon card, that's what they're talking about.

The start locations are random in Crazy, so you can try starting over a few times until you find a position you like. Starting in smaller bonuses helps.

Also note the AIs are on two teams. Make note of who you're attacking - you want to attack the teams roughly evenly. If you focus too much on one team, the other team gets too strong to take down later.

There are threads about both the Crazy and Insane challenge in this forum. Can be confusing, because at one point Insane was called Crazy, so search all the threads.

I will attempt this challenge again!

I got this star fairly easily by starting again and again till I had a good starting position in Africa. When I did, I took the whole of Africa without much resistance and could easily take over the whole world from there. Good luck trying!

I just attempted it with 3 restarts and got a lucky start similar to what you mentioned.. "normally when I start in africa I have company" and managed to finish it in 25... /sigh

I also got company in South Africa (just 1 though), but I guess he also got attacked by another AI in Antartica as I killed him in about 3-4 turns. I was really surprised to see he was eliminated :)

As for most stars you need some luck.

the stars upset me.. cause I was 1 off of europe and level 3 when they came out.. and shaving 1 turn off of my time is not an enticing thought, lol
