A long time ago, I was arguing with Cata over Somalia getting better or worse from statelessness. Well, she stumped me on death rate until I saw this.

As you can see, the bump starts in 1986, with the beginning of the Somali civil war, started by Siad Biarre, the dictator of Somalia. Fun fact about him, after his Marxist-Leninist regime fell, refugees returned to Somalia from Ethiopia. Hmm, wonder why. Anyway, the rise ends, as the government falls in 1991. Now, you're probably saying, well it was because the UN invaded Somalia in 1992 that things became better. Well, if that were true, then in 1995 after the UN retreated, Somalia would have had a spike in the death rate, but it doesn't as you can clearly see.

Opinions? Criticisms? Frains about roads?

To be clear, I don't think Somalia is a legit anarchy, rather there are two factions that hold half the country under their control each. They were most anarchic between 1986 and 1992.

The graph shows that the general improvement of living conditions in the world has also reached Somalia. By comparison with its neighbors, it's still a laughable shithole.

Somalia is run by Warlords, literally. The country is fighting a civil war and is a third world country. Somalia is very bad, but there is some countries doing just as bad.

Or the UN weren't total jackasses and actually waited to retreat until things had gotten better.

Because literally nobody likes socialism with the exception of white atheists in North america, who surprisingly are some of the people who have benefited the most from capitalism.

At this point there are about three factions right now, Somililand, the government Mogadishu led government and the remnants of Al-Shabab. But before 2006, it was better, with no real badness except inbetween warlords, and while that's bad, there were few civilian deaths from those.

Yes, but statelessness made it better than what it would have been under Biarre's regime.

Before 2006, it was pretty much accepted in Somalia that the businessmen were the ones who held more power in society than the warlords. And yes, we should get rid of the Al-Shabab, Mogadishu governments. Somalia will be better off without them.

(Note, statism was already tried in Somalia, and it conferred less benefits than statelessness.)

I think the Lord has it right here. It's split into many countries - but it's not actually unrule, or if it is, then it's a showing of how it fails (by bringing back worse and more states).

It was unrule in most places before 2006, but then lots of badness and statism came with Al Shabab.

Doesn't mean that you shouldn't cure statism, just means you have to cure it all quickly.
