Clan League 8 retirements: 8/5/2016 05:02:39

Making a new thread to capture all retirements across divisions and the make-up games as a result of them. I will update the first post with any new notifications from clans. Please do not spam this thread and try to keep discussion elsewhere. I would also urge all clans to declare their retirements in public, so that the affected opponents know that they do not have to spend time making serious picks on games which will be remade.

For the rules, see https://www.warlight.net/Forum/169082-clan-league-8-group-b-retirement

If your clan uses Rule 6 to declare a retirement

  • Please do so using one post on this thread.
  • List all the games which you think are eligible.
  • Since, a few clans have invoked this rule, I'm going to ask the clan leaders to create the make-up games and link them.

The following games will be replayed. (Replacement game links provided as well)

Division A - Orinocoflows, Summer

Division B - Jinxed, Txomin, Mr. X

Division C - Angry Koala
  • 3v3 GL
    • CORP vs VS -

Division D - Gifer

I apologize for the inconvenience caused to all clans, players and scorekeepers involved. I'm confident that this wont be an issue next season.

p.s - If you have notified anyone on the CL panel about a retirement and I've overlooked you, please follow the steps above and I'll update the post.

Those games hadn't begun by the time they reported it(in private).

@knyte,
Do you really have nothing better to do than troll every clan league thread? We get that you hate the competition. Just don't join it next time around and save everyone the trouble.

And we're grateful for that insincere apology as well.

That's odd, I didn't hear you apologize for lying through your teeth and making full-blown personal attacks against me when I'd only criticized your approach to running certain parts of the competition. Thanks for admitting it was insincere, though.

Anyhow, let me know when you reach a verdict on the Semice retirement.

I haven't lied about anything. I've admitted I missed an IM from OxTheAutist and have apologized for it as well. You can go look it up. But that doesn't fit your agenda of painting all CL organizers as villains though does it?

Well, if you read my comments, you'd see that they don't fit your agenda of painting me as hateful. Hell, I've made it plenty clear that you're not the villain and that, on the whole, CL management is doing a pretty good job.

Anyhow, no need to get so worked up about this. I was just making a Rule 6 joke. Easier to just ignore it and move on than to derail this thread into a personal brawl.

As per the definition of "declaring" (important parts in bold):

Someone can take over an account for a retired player if it is declared and they violate no other CL rules in the process (RR limit, 2 clans, etc). A player can also be replaced entirely in a tournament due to retirement (if you have no access to their account), but only in games not started yet.

With a supplementary

Any form of notification to the CL panel should do.

By this definition there's nothing that says a member of the clan has to make it known that the player is inactive/retired/MIA.

And as such, to get a respectful amount of replacement games for a clearly retired player, here is the absolute first undisputed notification that Angry Koala is gone.

https://www.warlight.net/Forum/159812-clan-league-8-division-c-official-thread?Offset=73

More specifically, here:

2 Angry Koala boot losses had already happened on Great Lakes, and 2 on Treasure Map. As such, there are only 3 on Treasure Map and 2 on Great Lakes (get to that later) to remake.

Treasure Map

Great Lakes

Although Angry Koala was booted in the CORP/LEA 3v3 Great Lakes game, CORP still won, despite having an AI teammate. That raises the question, is it really worth remaking a game that was already won with a handicap?

Although for fairness this game could also be remade if it means all the others would:
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=11580776

Finally, if the rules suddenly change again right before I finish this post, I did directly inform Pushover at one point, but that was before I realised the previous declaration. In that case, only the CORP/VS (not started) Great Lakes game is remade- but that wouldn't be closer to the fairer option, nor the more realistic option because it was declared he was MIA before I sent the private one.

If the other clan informed in time and the CL panel decides that the game has to be remade, if the other clan doesn't agree, it loses the game.
The rules say that a retired player can be changed, and by signing in the CL8 your clan accepted the rules. Obviously you can be in disagreement (in group B happened) and that would be taken into account to change some rules for the future, but in the ongoing league it won't be changed.

Tbh I still dont like this replacement rule. At least not how it is now. It makes more problems than it solves.

Also
Clans with retired players get a second Chance, actually okay. But to at least the same conditions? If not even improved conditions?
-There is no deadline for calling their substitute. Or?
-Do they really get 2 chances for a win (like 'first it is tried with an AI to win and if it doesnt work we know how our opponent plays and we can try with a substitute', come on really?)
-By the first game opponents stretagy can be tested, like mentioned above, and that not by watching history of past games.

That are some things that are coming into my mind. I am not criticizing someone special, only the rule. But still I hope it can be improved somehow in this Direction for next League

You don't get remakes, just replacements for all games that exit the pick stage after Rule 6 is invoked (but not necessarily after the panel delivers their verdict).

New games? I believe they won't count if they still have the retired player in them. Not 100% sure on them, but I believe you can just do whatever you want in those games (autopilot, surrender, actually cheat, etc.) with no consequence- since the remakes are the ones that count.

If the game started before the clan claims the retirement, the game will be played, so there is no "try with the AI" and "try again later", you only have the AI option.
If the game was created after the claim, the team with the booted/retired player should surrender because that's a "no valid game".

First of all i like to say i feel sorry for all the clans who had to replace players for whatever reason cause its def. not funny not having a line-up which is not "working"

But on the other hand i do think this somehow is getting to far. I think the organizers of the clan league should think of simplifing rules. More rules more exceptions more circumstances to think about.

I would like to see it this way: Put together a line-up of persons from whom you can expect that they are going to play the games/tournaments they are set in.So no retirment and replacement discussion are needed anymore.

We are having now how many threads about replacement and retirment? How many games had to be reset and are replayed? How many arguments have already been stated and caused bad feelings in cause of different point of views?

Less discussion about rules and regulations may lead to more fun playing the clan league !!

Cheers

@Don, these are the rules that the panel came up with after season 7. Next season there won't be any replacement games.

ETA: we'll handle replacement in a more sensible manner at least, since there will be CLOTs rather than RRs.

We cannot retrospectively remake all those games. GE stating that Koala is MIA isn't enough. We'll use the date you notified Pushover, and by that date, only the game against VS in Great Lakes will be remade.

They don't get "two chances" as you put it. Only games(not past pick stage) after the notification will be remade. I think the confusion here is due to the declaration being made in private in some cases(which could have been avoided). This is why we request that such declarations are made in this thread henceforth. I think Memele has provided a clear explanation of how these cases are being handled.

@Don
We completely agree with what you're saying. We already have a solution to the problem next season. However, we're interpreting current rules(from the end of CL7) as best as we can. I'd like to point out that it is impossible to come up with a comprehensive rule set which covers every situation. Every player in the league is welcome to ask for more clarification on the ruleset at the start of a season. However, from time to time there will be ambiguity in the wording of a rule and we'll have to judge on a case-by-case basis.
