They don't; they openly despise enlightenment principles, natural rights or the preeminence of man over government. They're a regressive strain that's stuck around since the 1600s, and want to return Europe to their old Europe where they're in a permanent state of conflict with the Muslim world, justifying their violence with violence committed by the Muslims, which was a reaction to violence committed by them and so on. They want to rule the west with a Metternichist police state, and doom their beloved west to hell when they sit on their bayonet.

Note, I am not criticizing folk who just want to limit immigration or think Islam is bad; just the folk who want violent action against it, and some cultural purity in Europe and America.

Are we trying to help stabilize the region or start an imperialist nuclear war? Because none of these ideas would actually help unite the region under secular states. Fundamentalism isn't broken down with a sword, but rather shifts showly to more moderate views through internal "enlightenment". Hitting fundamentalism with a sword will just radicalize the sect and strengthen it.
