Will Johnson be popular enough to debate on TV?: 9/8/2016 21:53:05

In a time where we've become exhausted with the two-party system in the US, as both candidates promise at least 4 years of complete idiocy or continued corruption in the federal government.

Because of this, Gary Johnson, the libertarian candidate, has reached the double digits in approval rating on many different polls. However, he does not have the 15% required to be on the stage against Trump and Hillary. Which stinks, because Johnson has some great ideas, especially since most people vote for one candidate because they hate the other.

And the US never was supposed to have 2 parties. But it's become that way, and any chance of a third party is a threat to the other two, and is usually curbstomped into oblivion. The last time a 3rd party got electoral votes in the US was 1892. over 100 years ago.

I think it's high time we allowed ourselves actual expression in the states. I hate the idea of being forced into an "us vs. them" mentality, in a nation considered the cradle of modern democracy. I shouldn't have to bend the knee to one of two large, corrupt, and overall unhelpful organizations that run my nation. No country should be pinned down that way.

Yeah, I saw that.

But compared to Hillary's earpiece and Donald Trump's 12 billion dollar concrete wall, it's an easier issue to fix.

''And the US never was supposed to have 2 parties.''

If it wasn't supposed to happen it wouldn't have.

'' I hate the idea of being forced into an "us vs. them" mentality, in a nation considered the cradle of modern democracy''

Democracy is divisive, get used to it.

''No country should be pinned down that way.''

should or shouldn't has no bearing in the real world.

I agree that Johnson needs to know more about middle east geography, but still he has some good ideas. And although I don't agree with all he says, at least he will stop the awful american imperialism and won't make a nuclear war if a world leader jokes about his hair.

Atm he is the cleanest and most rational candidate. At this point I definetly think he is the best choice for America.

Gary Johnson is probably the best Presidential candidate since Reagan or Bill Clinton ( Im speaking economically, Smedly ). But he won't get in, his highest polling average nationally has been 10% ( He's at 25% in Utah and New Mexico though ) . And if does not win that's not something to cry about either. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. That's life. However I will say the fact that the debate commission is dominated by Republican and Democrat establishment is probably why the bar is so high at 15%. Of course they don't want third party candidates in there because they don't want anyone calling them out on their bullshit. Lower the bar to 10% next election and nationalize the commission to make it bipartisan.

Also, The last time a third party got electoral vote was actually a Libertarian. John C. Hospers won 1 electoral vote in 1972. George C. Wallace also won 46 electoral votes in 1968. Fun fact, Ronald Reagan and Lloyd M. Bentsen and John Edwards all won electoral votes by mistake at one point. ( The person your thinking of is James Weaver who only won 22. Also, for the sake of nit picking and the fact that I never get a chance to show off my knowledge of American history, Theodore Roosevelt, Robert M. La Folette, Strom Thurmond, Walter Burgwyn Jones, and Harry F. Byrd all won electoral votes as third party between 1892 and 1972. )

Mm folk complain about having too few mainstream parties, not enough choice, but what they don't realise is that politic parties is itself an atrophy mark on folkdom. They make folk stick somewhat to one stance exchanging money and official upholding for. It makes folks' stances much more alike (that is, of the same party), and those who go for selfstanding have a clear relative disadvantage.

Feel that all the most folkdomish countries (Belarus, Kuwait, Thailand) have no or by far minority politic parties.

And I think that the only grounds why Libertarian party is anywhere a thumb from anywhere is that it's getting funding from some businesses. I mean, even less taxes and more deregulation is something liked.

Poor Green party, likely the best of this American election. Who gives them the stuff? Hardline environment, softline foreign, and for free healthcare; those are the 3 big points which make them stand better out than the others.
