It would be a great incentive to buy the membership, and would probably reduce both alts usage and farming.

The idea:
ALL ranked games of members and non-members count.
ELO will be calculated for every player, regardless of whether he is a member or not.
The ELO score will be available only for the member accounts.
There will be NO tool to see what ELO is a non-member.
Games could include ELO prerequisite which would automatically make the game Member-only.

The dashboard can list the global rankings similar to those of ladders.
Games included in the elo should expire to prevent abuse, but much later than on the ladders.
And expiration should not reduce the games in question to 0 - let the expiration be 6 months but not less than 500 games to keep the rating accurate and prevent exploits like on the ladder.

It would be a great way to see which players are good outside the ladders (as the ladders are isolated to single templates)
And it would make clan ratings much more reliable than points.

i believe it would eb easier for fizzer to apply it if the non-.members wouldnt be included in the calculations, though the members should eb automatically part of the system

Well, it's quite clear, than ELO is harder to manipulate than simple win ratio, but still - this rating wouldn't be much reliable(especially with all those lottery games).

Krzychu - with lottery games? the players elo rating would fall. just because his winrate against rather low ranked players would be near 50%.

I assume this plan would only include 1vs1 games ?

And if so would there be a subdivision in maps ??

The only way I see how this would work is if the Elo only applies to automatic 1vs1 ME strat games

Someone suggested it before, I believe Gui mentioned it at least few times ... and hmm, I don't want this.


I like to play games for fun, games that results don't really matter, unfocused. I couldn't bear each game to be "important" (even in a really small degree). Yea, sure, I could play only practice games, but it's impossible in reality. And could prevent me from joining games I like.

Don't get me wrong, I meant to say I'm just firmly against the first point:

ALL ranked games of members and non-members count.

I don't want to be forced to participate in it. Make it optional or sth, I don't know.

As for the rest, maybe I could accept it. I guess it depends how it would be done. I think it's way too hard to make it work fair and square.
Because just like with the ladder, stats, or levels, I'm afraid people would find way to abuse and spoil it.
Cherry picking teammates, opponents, games, treaties in case of FFA and much more could happen as a result, if not prevented in some way.

There would be absolutely no point in restricting the rating to one template. It would be counterprodictive, as we already have Ladder rating.

However, the system rating regardless of templates was requested a long long time ago. And it's not that difficult to make. Even with a filter, where you could toggle separate ratings based on maps, gametypes etc. It's very easy to implement with or without parametric options..

Widzisz - the point is - you would not care, BECAUSE every game would count.. and you would end up high anyways. the random games or ffas may be hosted as practice - and problem solved..

Aranka - maybe limiting it to two-team games would be enough. You may be right it may be more difficult to include a fair FFA skill calculator or for multiple-team games like 5v5v5v5 etc... but on the other hand there's always TrueSkill algorythm, which as far as i remember manages to include those as well..

It all sounds a little superfluous to me, but, then again, I'm not a member. Perhaps this is something you want, because you feel that members don't get enough perks for their hard-earned dollar.

aranka, i believe that the elo system would serve to rank the actually played games, regardless oft he map and so on. it would be the rating fo other player that would end up by deciding the relevance of each map. obviously soem odd settigns might be ignored: high luck games, odd attack/offence, etc.

Yes limitations of luck percentage and/or killrates and some other settings may be implemented - why not.. It would only be of benefit to the site! many gaming sites or systems have that (most if not all "serious" ones) why can't we? :(

Sounds like good idea, but it will be very hard for it to be implemented to make it hard to be exploited and make everyone happy. Would be good though as it would be another member-exclusive thing and would be good to see who is the best in large number of games, not the 2 they play at a time on the ladder.
500 games might be too much though, especially for only 6 months.

with 500 games or 6 months i meant the expiration mechanism - that games expire after six months but only if there are at least 500 OTHER non-expired games on this account. (to prevent what we see on the ladders - quitting and rejoining after expirations)

Interesting idea, but remain a lot of questions, I think.

My idea still that would be the best if Fizzer use exactly same system like in the (FIDE) chess.
There are two parts of this:
1. ELO ranking list, same way like chess (mounthly changed ELO ranking list (maybe we can use virtual ranking too like chess).
2. Official tournaments
There are a lot good old tourney series, those would be official, and Fizzer should create new ones. Only games from these tourney would be counted to the ELO ranking list.

To take part on this ELO ranking system players should sign in, and only members could sign in (prevent the alts). etc. etc.

That would be just a mere extension of the ladders.. What i'd like to see is a global solution. Partially making lottery games obsolete and cleaning some of the mess in open games...
