I have an idea for a diplomacy map with dynamic territory income. Every territory can have a base value for having it and it can be increased by capturing square territories disconnected from the main map, but connected to the territory in question. Each square is in a bonus with its territory worth 1, so when the territory is captured the squares become worthless.

Different territories can have a different amount of squares linked in a line. For example a territory like Graz could have an income of 1 and 1 square, making its max income 2, while Paris can have up to 10 squares making its total income 11.

This can also simulate sieges as an attacker won't get all the income from a fully developed territory like Paris until all player controlled territories are taken and the defening player can make attempts to take it back.

I have actually been thinking of doing soething like this. You could have 3 modes for every territory:Occupied,Automomous and Directly controlled.

Each mode gives out more income, working with a base value.(e.g. occupied territories give out 33% of their base income, autonomous 66% and directly controlled 100%)

A more fun and approachable idea would be to have occupied, held and cored provinces. This could make for some interesting games where you actually have to strike peace to get the full value of your conquered lands. This,of course, would require you to have a pretty small territory count.

The only problem youd face is clutter. Thats alot of squares in addition to a normal diplo map. Youd got to make it obvious to the players that Land territory X connects to square Y, or people will bolt. It shouldnt be a problem with file size though, too many people give that as an excuse, but theres tons of ways to reduce size. (such as making every object have a stroke and fill of null before you upload. It still pops up in warlight)

What I meant by saying you would need a pretty small terirtory count was that he would hit the 3200 territory limit pretty fast by having 3 extra territories for each normal one. Also that clutter is indee that biggest problem. You could split the map into regions/states and categorise the territories that way,or make the initial territories so big the modes can fit into them.

There is a reason the 2 biggest maps in this game have the exact same territory count

Didn't want to sound mean.I just figured you would know because you are a pretty experienced mapamaker as it seems.
