How can I make it so that the borders of two different countries in two different bonuses don't overlap so that the bonus outline color is distinct on both of them?

there was a post about it somewhere that gave pretty decent details about how to make your territories so the lines looked good, but I can't find it now.. Pretty much just cut out the edge of the territory the size of the border, but I haven't made any maps so..
