1) First I need 32 players that'll want to participate, of course the idea is to get top 32 players.
2) They'll be divided into 3 tiers, 1-8, 9-16, 17-32.
3) I'll make 8 groups (A-H) randomly drawing players into them with the rule being there must be only 1 tier 1 and tier 2 player in each group. The rest will be determined randomly.
4) Every group will start an internal 1vs1 RR and 3 simultaneous 2vs2 games (they'll play in each combination with themselves), making it 4 games at a time total.
5) Each win will be worth 1 point, in case of a need of a tie-breaker the 1vs1 result will serve as one.
6) Top 2 advance, making it 16 people total.
7) We make the exact same thing as in the 1st round except we have 4 groups now with the rule being 2 1st place players and 2 2nd place players in each group.
8)Top 2 of each group advance making it 8 people remaining.
9)8 people make 2 groups again and repeat the same thing, top 2 advance making it to semifinals.
10) Play-offs will be a best of 5 between 2 players, playing a 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3,2vs2 and 1vs1 game in that order (multiaccounts needed for that phase).
11) The winner of the playoff phase will be the winner of Warlight Champions League, there will also be a 3rd place match in the same best of 5 format.


So in short:
8 groups of 4 ---> top 2 advance ---> random draw
4 groups of 4 ---> top 2 advance ---> random draw
2 groups of 4 ---> top 2 advance ---> seeded semifinals (1st place of group A vs 2nd place of group B)

This is the post Szeweningen made regarding the Champions League when he ran it. Now, I understand that last time the league was cut short due to a bad template. I plan to mitigate that problem by creating pools of templates we will use throughout. You may suggest other templates you'd like to see, or blast some that I post. Regardless we will end up with 10 1v1 templates, 10 2v2 templates, and 5 3v3 templates.

Malvia 2v2 is a template I made, feel free to criticize or suggest a better one.

Basically, the Champion League will work the same way, however I will put the template names in random.org to decide what will be played. Once a template is used, it may not be used again. For those concerned about using alts at the end, the rule will stick. I will provide dummy alt accounts if you do not have 2. If you wish to throw your name in the hat, mail me. The people who participated last time will have priority over you though.

Guisia 3v3 and Medium Asia 3v3 are the exact same. I think the template Gnuffone gave us for Phobia 3v3 looks interesting for the 5th 3v3 option, but I have not played it so it'd be best to hear from someone like Gui or Gnuffone who does play a lot of 3v3.

I like the template choices though, a nice variety, and uses all the popular templates. And whatever Summer says, do not add Medium Earth Local Deployment as a 1v1 option!

From what i see, only Arun, Crovian, Seahawks and Noobschool qualify for this. Otherwise, Longhouse, Krzychu, Gnuffone, Sgt Pepper and Jay should be forbidden to join!

If I may suggest, in 1v1 templates medium earth is used 3 times. I'd suggest replacing cycle no luck srat 1v1 with Poland 1v1:

Similarily I'd suggest adding 2-3 more templates for 3v3 so that europe is not 40% of the templates used in 3v3. Possible candidates include Poland 3v3 http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=279776. Also you might want to replace europe 3v3 warlords template with this europe template:

If necessary straight round may be changed, but starts of 4 prevent attempts of grabbing islands first turn, which used to be a bad, but polarising move in europe 3v3.

Also, if there is enough people, maybe you'll want to try including 64 players instead of 32.

What happened to champions league no1?
Its stuck with the last 8 players. Instead of finding a quick mode of letting them play it out, there is a new league bearing the same name again.

@myhand i know. but 2 of 8 are inactive now. widzsisz was busy. instead of play before summer like i said, we wait to finish summer. then we just stop to speak about it.
