I've had an account since 2011 and used to play a lot back then. I was around for guys like gui and arun etc. I've popped back on very infrequently and I've noticed that this game seems dead. Back then the game was great and there were so many games. I used to be able to start games with very tight pre-reqs and was still able to get players. Now I can barely get a zere pre-req game going on Europe. Can a vet or someone else who has been around a while talk about the progression of WL?

It is growing at a steady pace. If you are seeing less games, then most likely it is because you don't meet prereq yourself.

Eu 3v3 is often done through Skype now days (since we all want only good players) I recommend looking for a clan if this is what you are specifically looking for (team-games). Also RoR has grown in popularity on the cost of EU i think.

It's more that nowadays most good players tend to play in clans / invite only games etc. while not checking open games at all. I wasn't there for WL's "golden days" (despite being beta version player) so can't compare.

Players have grown a bit pickier about game settings, I think. I for one am glad to see fewer role-playing & mass FFA ridiculousness in the open games section. And, thankfully, 'lotteries' are much less common now.

even I recall better days where even with the newest and coolest settings of mine you could get a game within 5 min (and diplomacies were likewise easier to fill). Then after the Dashboard update, it became very hard to fill games, and I think folk just started to make games with their friends/clanmates only and only stayed on My Games and so Open Games died out.

Is it really about level? I have over 1300 games and pretty decent wr imo and I can't get shit. Do you really think I'm being filtered out? Also what is the best way to get into a clan if that is the only way to play against competitive players?

You don't need to join a clan per se. If you have skype, you can join group chats where you'll find competitive players. Just ask someone to add you, or PM your skype info.

There's a Warlight chat game too, but that's not used as much as the skype chat.

I can't say that you're being filtered out of the games you wish to join, but you're definitely being filtered out of some games. It's not your winrates, it is your level, you've played lots of games, but because your account predates the level system you're lower level than your game count would normally entail.

I see 13 RT games right now, you meet the pre-reqs for all but two, those two require level 30 to see.

if you're looking for competitive games you should join the ladders or the different cups/tourneys that are around. you'll eventually start getting invited to higher competitive tourneys (which due to the coin system are mostly private nowdays)

but yeah, low level doesnt help finding good games.
