My proposal is to set tournament (single elimination tournament), and winner of this tournament automaticaly becomes ruling champion.

Then, another tournament will be set (and that should last 15 days at most) and winner of that tournament becomes challenger.

While they compete in 3 rounds (so 2:0 ends the match) another tournament is set (therefore neither winner nor challenger can participate) so winner becomes next challenger.

Size of tournament should not exceed 16 players (so maximum of 4 rounds), and all new participants for next tournaments should pass qualification in second grade tournament(s) which should be set if more players decide to join.

Probably, for season 1, challenger should be finalist of first tournament.

Hey Hasdrubal, How are you?

I really like your idea for the main reason is speeds up the process and involves more people. I was actually thinking of the problem with this current model of the slowness it takes just for a 1v1 game to be played, I don't remember when the thread of this was created but 1 game being finished is not good enough. I know a vacation is being used by Motoki which is preventing the current game from being played but the speed in general is not fast enough which makes me worried the thread will decrease in popularity due to the long waiting lines.

So, For fairness of the players who already signed up, I will put up a straw poll vote. Asking if players want the model you suggested or my current one)

I also think it's a great idea to spend 2 months determining a champion and a first challenger and then having repeated month long waits to determine the next challenger.

Realistically, I don't see any downsides to having a wait list. That's how these "belt" titles were run previously.

Alternatively -

You could have the rule - no vacations if you are competing; but if you are the champion then you go to the top of the waiting list when you come back from vacation, or if you are the challenger but are on vacation/or soon will be then you are skipped but when you come back you are at the top of the waiting list.

That solves the vacation problem in a pretty fair way.

Also, you could have the moves be 1 day 10 hours. That would make things go much faster too.

Both of those changes would make the belt pretty quick.

We've at the moment only 11 players in this thing so making bigger tournaments is not a good idea. i see no problems using vacation and vacations aren't the problem I think the format is the problem personally.

So I'm thinking of just having all the participants into a appropiate size tournament full of challengers on a template picked by the champion. The winner of the challengers tournament plays the champion.

It's simple but more effective, I will put this idea into the original format and make a forum post soon enough.

Hmm, save the way how the ruling champion is to be chosen (depending on 1v1 each round or tournament that yields challenger), how do you suppose to announce participants: champion, challenger, waiting list?

Will there be some kind of thread on the forum, or something very different?

BTW, I am willing to participate if there will be tournament for challengers, but not if there will be list of challengers.

I don't see why you need to wait in line. Just invite the current champion to a 1v1 game, and if you win post the result on the thread. Might not be official, but hey, results speak for themselves.
