Question on humanity: 10/31/2016 11:20:12

I have a question for you guys. If you can change the future of humanity so that all current and future humans will enjoy exceptionally good lives while humanity goes extinct in 200 years due to lack of reproduction (robots will take care of the last humans until they naturally pass away). Will you choose it?

In terms of ethics I believe an individual is not responsible for hypothetical individuals that do not and will not exist. If all humans from now on live exceptionally good lives but humanity naturally goes extinct in 200 years without any harm done to any existing or future human, there seems to be no harm in choosing that other than a programmed extinction of humanity as a species.

However we do want humans to continue to exist, right? Is there any value of humanity as a species beyond the sum of the interests of all humans? In this case no human has his/her interests harmed. However you don't feel that human extinction is pleasant, right?

A better question is: why shall any human care about the hypothetical humans that don't even exist? Well this still makes sense if these humans have a potential to exist in the future. When they don't even potentially exist why shall we care about the collective called "humanity" independent of actual existing humans?

Humans don't cause all of the problems. Furthermore the world will be better off in the future with humans existing, not non-existing.

Felinism is in essence an ideology that does not care about future generations.

Reason: Nobody was born with a duty to breed (Positive duties aren't imposed from birth. Instead they are a result of a social contract which does not involve breeding). Nobody is responsible for non-existing humans either.
