Is this the kind of stuff that is actually happening on ladders these days? Look at this game and read the chat. Disgusting what someone will do to not lose a game. Wins also tried to bribe others in his losses. How can this crap be allowed?

He's not strong enough to keep that 2000. Don't worry, the market will price him accurately after more games. Or he'll ragequit.

Yeah but bribing someone who is ahead 70 to 10? Come on...

Agreed, it's a shame that reporting the actions of Wins probably won't work, what he's done in that game and others is low. Cheating (per-se) like that shouldn't be allowed.

But, I mean, at the lower ladder levels (rank 250 and below), it's probably fine because there's no stakes but doing scummy stuff like that at the higher levels isn't cool, as no-one really cares about the worse(r) ladder players. But what Wins has done is comparable to players/clan-mates (intentionally) dropping rank 1 so their clan-mate/friend can get the trophy. Thank god I never played him during my run

Huh, there's a thought! I only need to assassinate seventeen people to get #1 on the ladder.

And as of now, one of them would be Wins!

The worst thing imo is his clan allowing him to do that crap. It reflects really badly on the Statisticians.

^^

It's up to the clans to reject bad behavior. I'd call the Statisticians out on it on a separate thread, but I still feel guilty over calling out Lynx. They deserved better than that.

You could use "Hell".

Before I clicked the link, I thought it would just be someone being a full undisputed arse, stalling hard, being mean, some kind of dirty play.

When I clicked the link, I saw that you made a big deal over nothing. Admittedly Wins was playing slowly but Smurf was cool with it. And then he offered the win as long as he gave money or helped to a charity organisation. Both players were friendly to each other, so no bad behaviour, either. If anything this kind of bribing needs to become WAY more popular.

The only possible problem I see here is that it lowers the legitimacy of 2000+ ranked players if one more joins amongst them, and more broadly, the ladder's legitimacy? Also his stalling but who doesn't do that at the high ranks?

Seems like he just wanted to try to game the system a bit and then he stopped.

the market will price him accurately after more games. Or he'll ragequit.

Wow, big respect to Papa Smurf...

Leave wins alone! He did it for the statistics only. Lowest level #1 ehm #10 ehm top 50 at least!

@Norman: Or you could do it yourself with your "YouMustBeKidding" alt (forgot the name, it's just the one that got kicked out of the Juggernauts) :P Don't try to start shit here, man. We know you have beef with some people, doesn't mean you gotta butt into every thread where they get involved.

Damn, props to Papa Smurf though. Like he did engage in some questionable behavior and all, but he used what little leverage he had to try and better the world in a small way. Instant respect. Trading fake points in a game for real impact on real people.

:) Just donated a little to a favorite charity of mine on his behalf. Thanks for being such a good person, man!

Жұқтыру , my post was about cheating the ladder system. It was nice what Papa Smurf did but it was weak for Wins even to offer any bribe. He offered Paul (in another one of his losses) a warlight membership to surrender. (Paul is to honorable to take it though) That is crap. Also, not everyone stalls for rank on ladders. I have about 200 unexpired games and there are several like me.

Wow, Papa Smurf is a beautiful soul. I have a stance against bribing myself, but I have to admit that trading virtual points to help the poor and needy is something incredibly heartwarming. I have to agree with Жұқтыру and Knyte.

i just need to try and get this win really badly (and kinda quick) haha, gota finish out my 20 games and im so close to doing it, and if I can finish 1900 rated or better MathWolf said he might let me join the 3v3 ladder team with him and jackie, I just really need a win here haha :)

lmao, i hope they let him join the team. They will become a much easier target. Seriously though, i would be happy to pair wins on the ladder. Doesn't seem hard to beat him and I never say no to a respectable donation on my behalf xD

EDIT: don't forget his attempt to bribe konglaide... didn't work and he stalled until elimination. Really pathetic.

Also his stalling but who doesn't do that at the high ranks?

The people who really have the skills to be on the high ranks won't stall their games. Buns, motoki and me(current top3 rating wise although buns left the ladder) haven't stalled any of our losses. In fact i played 2 of them in realtime which was probably the reason why i lost those.

I could use Hell I suppose. But if there's no advantage to using an alt that's supposed to be anonymous, then I might as well bring a main account to my fights.

As the clan leader of the Statisticians, all I can say is that I personally don't agree at all with Wins' actions in this game and that it is not good for the integrity of the game. I'm not all that offended if it would simply be the actions in the Papa Smurf game, but apparently, as Ollie clearly shows, it's more widespread than just that.
Stalling, cheating, bribing and using multiple accounts are done way too often in the ladder, not just now but already since its launch, and they keep seemingly go unpunished. It saddens me to see that it's now also done by someone in my clan.

As Ollie rightfully mentions, many people, including myself, were able to reach their peaks without stalling, bribing or help. As a counter example: When I was second on the ladder again, for the fourth time in three years, the number 1 at that time contacted me to offer that he'd quit the ladder for a day so I could get number 1. I refused without second thoughts. I think the only way to keep the integrity intact is to look at yourself first and try to do what's good.

On that note, I probably (p>95%) will have a personal chat about it with him later, although I don't feel it's my or the clan's responsability to solve this problem. In previous cases of cheating and stalling, clan leaders were for example reluctant to openly judge offenders, let alone kick them out of the clan. On a personal note again, me and Jackie were indeed considering to replace my alt with Wins in our 3v3 team (although I didn't say anything about a rating in any ladder) and I was planning to have a look at his games before taking a final decision on that. It seems that decision is all but made now. I'd rather have had him in with a 1800 rating and fair yet erronous play than with a 2200 rating and brilliant but cheating play.

Other than that, it should be noted that we are not a competitive nor strategic clan, just a clan with people of a similar background who happens to have some decent strategic players in it.
So I do take offense on TheRiverStyxie saying "It reflects really badly on the Statisticians." as (1) We didn't know so how were we supposed to do anything about it and (2) We as clan should be judged on what we are, not our play. Do our trophies in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 then reflect good on us? According to your logic, it would, but it shouldn't either.
On that note, I would have appreciated it if someone would have contacted me about this although I understand that Swisster may have been unable to even if he wanted because I have him blacklisted.
After all, you can't call out a group of people if nobody but one of them is guilty and even aware of the guilt (see also: discrimination and racism).

And of course a lot of respect to Papa Smurf for trying to make a difference in the real world, very classy.
