Why does the history function go to the beginning automatically? Is there anyway to change it back to the way it was where it was the previous turn? This quite annoying.

Yes, goto Settings -> Scroll down to Game Settings and then toggle the "default to history" button.

I can see how that can be annoying but there is a easy work around, being shortcut keys:

left arrow - go back one turn in history (even if you are looking at the current turn)

right arrow - go forward one turn

Home - go to the beginning of the game

end - go to the last turn played

In order to not spoil the ending/winner. Which is really annoying if you are streaming or otherwise reviewing/looking at a game.

no i'm pretty sure he is talking about how when you used to hit the history button it took you to the last turn instead of the First turn.

I am referring to in game. I use the history function frequently when playing would like to have it go to the previous turn when opening the history. When I used to play way back when, the history used to do this and wouldn't open to the beginning like it does now when open mid-game.

That doesn't work. It starts me off in the first turn and you cannot move left. This setting should be re-added or never have been changed in the first place.

Hit left before you are in history.

Speck is right that hitting left arrow is the easiest way to get to the previous turn. This is what I use.

But in general, I agree the old way of history was better. Although it's stated incorrectly here how the old way worked: What it used to do was, when you selected history, it wouldn't immediately enter history at all and instead would pop-up buttons where you could click "last turn" or "first turn". It's going to go back to the old way in a future update.
