Why do I feel dirty booting someone even after waiting 5 or 6 days for them to take their turn?
Is it just me, but does it feel like the win is tainted?

Sometimes I agree with this.. Other times, people know what the time limit they are agreeing to.. If they cant abide by that the game is technically forfeit :P

I can accept it when I'm booted for not making a move for 4 or 5 days. I can even accept it when a teammate is booted for the same thing. The things that bother me about booting are when someone says "I won't have access until Monday, please don't boot me." and someone boots them anyways. Or what I've seen a lot of lately, someone creates a game with a low boot time and doesn't join the game themselves, then mysteriously when everyone else is joined... they wait to join and then boot everyone! But then again... it's just a game :)

Regardless of whether it's justified or not to boot someone, the win you gain thereafter is tainted. That's why I almost never boot anyone...

Good to know it is just not me.

It also seems like if the game matters more to me, then I dislike booting someone even more.

yeah.. I would never boot someone for a cheap victory, but in a bigger game Im more inclined to not care. Depending what stage of the game it is in.

I agree, so long as a person is playing I don't want to boot them. If someone says something, if people are actively talking in a quick play, it's not like they're ditching the game. I like fast play, but 5 minutes is a soft limit to me. If its a 5/15 fast play game and they're gone for that long, and don't say anything, that cuts the game pace and maybe after like 20 I'll think about going for a boot, but starting to vote after 5 minutes? that's kinda silly. I've even got a few 5/15s that have turned into slow-play because something came up- so long as you're saying what's up I really don't care. I think it's just rude to go way over the limit without saying anyhting and then have everyone wait without knowing why. OF course, if you're in a fast play and need to leave, if everyone else is going to be waiting you should also just tell them to boot you so that they can get on with what they're doing.

But yeah, I would feel dirty just booting someone for a few minutes on a fast play game, and even for a few days on slow play.

Also, if/when the rankings get implemented, I think bootings should count less against the person booted and less for the player/s remaining as a measure to discourage jumping the gun to boot a player.

The first game I joined was a fast play game. I sat there watching the screen for two hours waiting for the last person to join then went to the bathroom. When I came back, I was booted along with two or three of the six players. At the time I assumed it happened automatically due to the game's configuration, but I still don't know for sure what happened. It would be good to have more visibility into these events and even some history tracking so you can avoid games like that.

Being the victim of a boot, or making someone else a victim, is the least of my concerns. The real drag is the investment all the players made into the game, and that the game has been more or less destroyed. There should be other means to keep the game going if a player disappears.

braveheart, the lesson here is to get off the crapper more quickly next time. lol.

I do agree with you. even when I am not the booted one, I hate to see a good game get lopsided over someone getting booted.
