It seems to be hard to find lists of strategic templates, so i made a wiki entry about it:

https://www.warlight.net/wiki/Strategic_Templates

Feel free to suggest strategic templates that are missing. Or improve the wiki entry itself. This was just a quick dump of available information in a "safe" public place.

Ideally it would be great to have listed an example tournament for each of the templates. So if you want to contribute to this list this is a great way to help improve it, either find a tournament played on those specific settings, or create a new one and link to that.

A while ago I was making this spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pc7O8ZGmGKg8ObEiehTfdjPX2aNq6eiOri1URHkN6Ec/edit

Note though that not every template here is really strategic, in fact I planned something like - throw everything possible here and then sort templates by player ratings. But then I haven't went anywhere near that...

I could make a start of turning that to a wiki table in 7.5 hours, need sleep right now.

I tried to do something similar to Onoma, but I never got player ratings. I'll have to poke another attempt at it through google forms.

I know knyte said something about this game having no meta, and I completely agree. Templates should go in and out much faster, and it keeps the game fun. That's exactly why we should have "template of the week" or something like that. Auto-games have always been horrible, why not improve that?

Benjamin628: i wouldn't trust you anywhere near a public service resource of strategic templates that isn't easily reverted, you've done quite enough for the cause already: https://www.warlight.net/Forum/142895-100-strategic-templates

Apollo: care to add them to the wiki?

KKND: nop, this list was based on mod's list, he warned me that CL and MotD's MD Ladder have more templates worth including but i haven't gone through them, just starting a public list that hopefuly other people can go back and reference and/or contribute to.

This might be a good place to pitch the idea I had a while ago - Vault.

I've witneesed it too many times- we couldn't find the template, link broken, debate over settings...People apparently delete their templates and it creates problems.

Vault would essentially be a template library, someone's old account with lifelong membership. It would re-save all the "official" strategic templates we have so far. Now I have no idea about the limit of templates but you can cram quite a lot of text in Bio section.

Needless to say control would go to just a few trusted players. Like Semice.

Cloud Strife: i didn't even realize it was possible to delete a template. O_o i know that changes to a map can cause a template to stop working, requiring you to re-select the map and redefine some settings that get reset through that, and you end up saving a new template, but i was under the impression you could overwrite it and use the same template id.

Apollo: you have to login to the wiki on the top right (create an account if you don't have one), and then just click the edit button on the page, do the changes and click save. the wiki saves an historic of changes, so things are easy to revert if someone fucks something up or random troll comes along to play the moron and expose his ip to permban.

Yeah, what you described is correct. There is a delete button as well though. Half the templates in Onoma's spreadsheet don't have a game link for example (game links are incredibly useful btw) and those templates could be deleted at any moment and would be mighty hard to track down or recreate as-they-were.

So, I was thinking backup for the future, probably past the time any of us still play this.

The reason I censored that is because people kept harassing me because 80% of those templates suck, or were made so long ago and have like 75% WR

Cloud Strife: ah, right. well, having a game link (or in my preferance, a tournament link) would future-proof it better.

Well, most of these templates are either Qi's or sze's templates who aren't very likely to delete any templates soon :P but I agree with your point, which is why I started to give game links instead of template links. I planned to go through all of those templates and actually play games on them (so that there are game links for them) but there's just too much of it, and was too shy to come out with it to community for support.
